I know I haven't posted in a while about Titus' lymphoma roller coaster, but here goes. We went into the vet Monday night and had blood work done because he didn't seem to be feeling himself. The swelling was gone from his throat, so we were baffled. He wasn't eating and was moping around. The blood work showed no cancer cells in his system at all! He is slightly anemic, but the doctor said that's normal with all the drugs he's been on and it's treatable. All of the blood chemistries were in normal parameters, except for some pancreatic enzymes. So doc did another test and found Titus had pancreatitis! The reason Titus wasn't eating and would sometimes tremble was because he was in pain. He also had his back sort of hunched, like when we want to double over when we have a tummy ache. Doc said we can treat it with a bland diet and he should be fine. He also has me giving Titus the Prednisone every day instead of every other day. He gave us a liquid drug for pain and literally knocks the dog out. So that night, I cooked up a big batch of rice and boiled some ground turkey and that is Titus' meal for the next week or so. He loves it, just dives into it. The turn-around on this dog just over the past couple of days has been tremendous. He goes in tonight for his weekly shot. Doc wants to keep up shots for the next few weeks to be sure Titus stays in remission. Next week, he'll do another enzyme test for the pancreas. One side affect is that Titus gets incontinent and doesn't always make it outside to pee. Last night, we gave him some of the knock out drops just to assure he would sleep ok. Within five minutes, he was stretched out on the end of our bed sound asleep. In the middle of the night, I woke up and my feet were wet - he peed on the bed! We put him in his bed, stripped the bed and I was doing laundry in the wee hours. But hey, that's all right, I don't mind doing laundry. It didn't soak to the mattress. I think I will have to invest in pee pads before I let him crash on our bed again! So this Thanksgiving, this is what I'm most thankful for - my Big Ol' Dawg being healthy!

That is extremely good news and a wonderful Thanksgiving gift. Nothing makes us any happier then for our babies to get feeling better again. Believe me I know as mine has been really sick also. Good Boy Titus for getting well and making your mommy happy.

P.S. Maybe he was just giving you a foot washing since we are going into the religious holidays. ;)

Yippie Titus!!

You may want to buy a diaper for him. I got a denim one for Jessie when she was having her kidney problems - they work pretty well and they look adorable in them.
