Tissue overgrowth?

Hi, Thanks everyone for your prayers for our Ethel. She has recovered almost completely from all her biopsies. The other tumor was cancer also. We aren't going to do treatments. She is happy and healthy. I was wondering, though, the biopsy of the jowls inside? It was benign but the doctor mentioned that some boxers get an overgrowth of tissue in their mouths? What does that mean? Will it keep growing? Does it impede their ability to eat food? I've just noticed that she isn't bearing down on her food if it has to really be chewed. She does get a rawhide bone once every two weeks and seems to enjoy those but I was just curious if anyone else has this tissue overgrowth thing.

It could be something that occurs sometimes in boxers--my dog, Sammie has it. It's where the skin has grown up over some of their teeth & there is also excess tissue around the teeth. As soon as I save up some money, I'm going to have it removed. My vet charges around $85 for the procedure. As far as I know, the tissue doesn't grow back.

I soak her kibble for a few minutes so it's softer. She does fine that way, she just takes a little longer to eat.

I think it is fairly commom in boxers. Markus' gums are starting to do the same thing. If it starts to be a problem I will have it removed. It is supposed to be a fairly simple procedure.
