Tips bowl over and then takes food over to couch to eat.

Max has developed a weird habit and would like to know if anyone else has ever had their boxer do this. When I feed his bowl with kibble he will wait awhile and then turn the bowl over. He eats off the floor and then he will take some of the kibble in his mouth and then walk over to the couch and proceed to eat it. Strange isn't it. I have tried a heavy crock dog bowl and stainless he still does it. I am tempted to get him a raised feeder just don't know. Kind of funny, it isn't a big deal, maybe he is getting in the terrible twos. Any thought?

sammy's eating habits!

My puppy Sam (2 months) does take big mouthfuls of kibble to his carpet, lies down and spits them out in front of him and then eats. Then he returns to his bowl! it's funny. But, he doesn't spill his bowl over or paw at it (I have it in a stand tho...) I think he's just too lazy to stand and eat in the am.

That is too cute! Maybe he doesn't want to miss what is going on in the other room!

Cody use to do that. Get mouth full, start walking in the the family room, dropping pieces on his way, check out what is going on and then walk back to the bowl! I think he didn't want to miss anything!

Raised dishes

The raised dishes might aleviate the problem but I thought I had read that they were one of the major causes of bloat based on a recent study conducted. I think I read that in a post here in the last few days.

Sandy will do that too. Unless you stay in the kitchen with her.
If you go in the living room, she is there with a mouth full of food, she will even follow you into the bathroom with a mouth full.
I guess she wants to make sure I know she eats. LOL

I too am confused about the raised dishes.

Feeding from raised bowls actually increases the possibility of bloat.

Personally, I would take the bowl away until the next feeding to try to encourage him to eat ONLY from his bowl, and nowhere else.

knocking bowl over

My Jacob does this everyday when I feed him. It is so funny to watch he just pickes up his bowl and flings it every where then eats at his free will. He has done this ever since he was a puppy he is now 4yrs old.

Sage has been doing something similar to that. When I feed her, she takes a few pieces, walks into the livingroom, spits them out, then REFUSES to eat them. It's becoming a problem because we're stepping on the pieces and grinding them into the carpet before we even know they're there. I've tried scolding her, or staying in the kitchen while she eats, but nothing works. I keep finding nuggets of food all over the house!!! Boxers sure are silly!!

Nestle will do that sometimes. It is usually when she doesn't want to be alone so she brings her food to wherever we are...

My old girl Brit used to this also. She would tip the bowl get a mouthful and look around and munch....needless to say food flung everywhere!

My cure was a bowl that has a large circle around it. It looks like a chip dip bowl...the lip on it is like 3 inches wide then the food bowl is in the center. The whole dish is about 18 inches wide. I wish I could draw you a picture of it. It was great to cure her of tipping the bowl over. I got it out east while travelling. So, I am not much help as to where to buy one.
But this cured her tipping the bowl. I never did cure her of eating and looking around and spilling her food everywhere.
