Before anyone says anything I know boxers are a medium breed. I just wanted to know if anyone has any thoughts on this particular food. Goku has gone through both Canidae and Chicken soup and didn't really seem to like either one. Canidae was so expensive and it seemed to give him and my bulldog alot of eye boogers. We used Nutro max to put a little weight on our bulldog when when Goku was still a pup. I offered it to him a few days ago and he really seemed to like it. It is the first time I have seen him eat anything so fast. Is there any harm in giving this brand to him?? It contains beef which I think he really likes. It also has Chondrotin and Glucosomine for joints. Please reply with any thoughts.

I have only ever used Nutro Natural Choice Lamb and Rice, it was a great food. I would be hesitant to use a large breed food on a boxer as it is formulated with certain amounts of Chondrotin and Glucosomine for a large breed, Maybe give Nutro Natural a try it doesnt have corn or soy in it either (which all of my boxers have always been allergic to) On a side note my dad feeds his bulldog and His boxer Nutro Natural Choice Lamb and Rice and never have had any problems with it. I personally have switched to Performatrin Ultra (which is through PetValu it is a holistic food with human grade lamb with no hormones, etc. there is also Yucca, whole blueberries and carrots, etc. also stuff good for joints in it too. The dogs love it, they eat it all when they are fed 2/day it is similar to Royal Canin Natural Blend Adult food) I'm not sure if there are PetValu's in the states...

food

well i have a 4 1/2 month old boxer puppy, bella. we were giving her iams puppy food until i read all the horrible things about it and realized that her excessive pooping and eye boogies could be a result of bad food. so i went to our local pet store looking for canidae, bc everyone raves about that on this site, but they didnt carry it. since we are at this pet store every week for puppy classes, i wasnt goign to go somewhere else also. so i asked the women and she recommened natural choice large breed puppy food. i mixed what i had left of the iams with the it, and literally over night her eye boogies went away. her poops are smaller and less often. and she loves it, even though that wasnt really a problem.
on the large breed note, i believe it says on the bag for puppies who will grow to be 55 lbs and larger, alll boxers dont necesssarily go over 55 lbs, our vet said our little girl will most likely be about 60 lbs so we use the large breed. she is growing at a normal rate from what ive been told. she is not quite 30 lbs at 4 1/2 months.
those are my thoughts but i would not call myself a dog expert so i would ask your vet and/or a pet store associate, or if your pup is in a class ask her teacher.

We also use to have Dorian on Iams untill I read all the bad things about it, and recently switched him to Nutro Max Larg Breed. Hes already 47lbs at 7 months, so Im not too concerned about it being larg breed. And while I was switching him over, he would pick out all the nutro bits till there were none left first thing.. he really loves the stuff. Theres less eye buggers and less yeard pick up, and hes doing really well on it. So Id say Just find what works for your dog, if its this, then great! If not then I guess ya just keep looking :D

Nutro Max Large Breed

I want to thank everyone for the replies. I know this can be a touchy subject sometimes. As of today both Goku and baby are both loving the Nutro Max Large breed and the eye boogies are already greatly reduced. I have tried Lamb and rice formula foods before but Goku just doesn't seem to take to any thing the way he's taken to this new food. Unless I see any ill side effects I will keep him on it and maybe try different foods in the future. Please if anyone thinks this is a bad idea please let me know.
