Boxer Pal
I haven't posted in forver due to loss of my great friend, loss of my old, beloved dog, and sickness of my grandmother. So it has been a very while because I have been so busy. But yesterday, I came across something horrible and I needed someone to tell me what I should do and I knew the people at Boxerworld would help.
So heres the story:
I was taking a walk through the park by my house by myself just to think when a small, female boxer mosied her way over to me. I'd seen her plenty of times before and knew her name was Allie and that she live near by. So as she was coming over to me, I cooed her and got on my knees in a non-threating way, I held out my hand for her to sniff and she let me pet her. I checked for tags just to make sure this was the Allie I had seen before. There were no tags, but I figured I'd bring her over to the condo's where she lived just in case. By this time, I noticed how skittish and afraid Allie was, but chalked it up to me being a stranger. Penny is very wary of strangers so I figured that's why Allie was so hesitant. I got up, called her name and she stuck by my side.. until I started walking in the direction of the condos. When she saw where I was going, she took of in a frenzy for the park. So I stopped where I was and called her with the nicest voice I could make. She cautiosly walked back to me and I sat with her and petted her until she calmed down. She seemed like she liked the attention very much and looked like the happiest dog ever, so I just sat with her for a couple minutes and talked to her about how we have to find her mommy and daddy because they're probably missing her right now. Then, I heard a man yelling her name... well actually it was more like screaming. He was screaming for her to "get back here right now". Then he saw me with the dog and toned down and called her. He told me "Sorry about that, she's always f---ing running off." I told him it was fine, and that I loved dogs and am always happy to help them find their way back home. Well, he pretty much ignored me and pulled Allie hurtingly by the collar and brought her behind the detached garges of the condos. I had a feeling that something was wrong with this picture all along and this made me even more queasy so I walked until i got behind the garages where he couldn't see me and then I started to run until i got in view of the owner and Allie. I peaked around the corner and saw him take his hand back as if he were about to swing at her. I gasped and he saw me and stopped. I started walking back home, trying to keep back the tears for this sweet dog when I heard him yelling and calling her profanities.
I thought for sure this was a case of animal abuse, but hoped that maybe the man was just having a stressful day and letting his anger get the best of him. I was wrong.
Once I got home, I told my boyfriend and my friends that were over visiting this story. And my boyfriend asked, "Wait, Allie? That Boxer that lives in the condos" and I said yes.
Well, he went on to tell me that just before I went on that walk through the park he was walking our friend Tony's dogs and after he was done, walked through the park to get back home. He was walking up to the garages, where I was later, and Allie did the same thing. Once her owner found her Allie hid behind my boyfriend, Josh's, legs. Her owner walking up to her yelling profanities and Allie took up for the park. Josh asked if he wanted help catching her and her owner said "No, but when i f---ing catch that dog i'm gonna f---ing kill her." Josh told him not to be so harsh, that she's just a dog. The owner glared at him and took off after Allie. Josh said he wanted to stay to see if Allie was alright, but was worried at what the owner would think and say, so he kept walking but slowly. Then he saw the owner come back with Allie and pick her up and throw her at the dumpster. :(
After that, my friend Luke told us how he saw around the same thing a couple weeks ago.
This makes me want to cry, throw up, and steal the dog at all the same time.
I want to call aminal control, but can they really do anything with no real evidence? I know, or at least think the mother of the family treats Allie very well, as does they're 3-5 year old daughter. But that man, he just deserves something terrible. I talked to my mom about it yesterday and she told me I should just go over and take the dog. But i don't feel thats the best way to handle it, although it's very tempting. I am willing to do anything for the dog's sake. I will even adopt her as she is a very good dog.
Anyone have anyu advice? please?
