You really need to call animal control. Like someone said, at least they will know people are watching. And maybe the wife doesn't know that the husband is beating the dog. If a report is made, then at least she will know. As a police officer, I can tell you not to just take the dog. unfortunatly, laws protect bad people too and a dog is considered his property. You could (and would) be charged with theft for taking the dog even though you are trying to do the right thing. If animal control can form a case (get lots of witnesses), let them take the dog. They can by law. Best of luck with your decision. It tears at my heart to see or hear of things like that. How can people do something like that?!?!
