Welcome

Hi there!!!

Welcome to BW. Congrats on being owned by a Boxer. How old is your
Boxer? Do's and don'ts well ,lets see, do love your Boxer, do give your
boxer lots of hugs and kisses!!!!! Seriously though, the best is to take
it day by day, but one thing I do advise you to do is to take your
Boxer to obedience training it is good for socialisaiton as well learning
whats right and whats wrong. What questions do you have?

Yes, I must agree. Definitely take your new Boxer to obedience training. They are very smart. Agility is really fun, too. It is like a playground to the dogs even though they are really working for you. A CGC title is always nice and usually is easier to get then the other obedience titles.
As far as running, my girl loves running with me. She takes personal pride in beating me everytime. However, it is a great way to run off some of that extra exuberance that Boxers have.
Also, read this site. There is so much information here about Boxers, you will get both sides of the picture not just one.

1st one eh?

Hello there! Now that you have a boxer you will never turn back, they are so lovable and such individual characters. I have had two boxers so my advice is: Do's: they respond very well to praise and lots of it, when they do the right thing, treat it like its the very best thing in the whole world and then they can't do enough for you after that. My boxer does not respond to food treats. He is un-bribeable. you could put a sirloin steak in front of him and he would still want to do whatever he wanted. ie: go after the mailman or paper boy. Another tip: the dog NEVER forgets. If he appears not to like someone, BELIEVE HIM. He has his reasons and just because he can't tell you, doesn't mean they're not valid. If he has been traumatized by something or someone, don't expect him to forget about it. My 2nd boxer was sick one time (had the runs and was dehydrated) and the vet took his temp you-know-where. His poor little bum was sore from being sick and I imagine that thermometer hurt. He hates the vet to this day, even though we have changed vets. Have fun with your boxer, and show him lots of love, he's worth it.
