I just wanted to introduce myself since you have met my husband and he talked about our new addition, Rocky. He has been such a joy to have. He is doing well. He is 3 mos. old now and doing great. I have intered a picture, but has not been approved yet, so hopefully it will be on here soon so you can all see our new one! Does anyone have any suggestions for Rocky to get my husbands scent while my husband is gone? Rocky has not met him yet and won't for a while and I don't want him to be reluctant to meet and play with my husband! I have looked at alot of the forums here and it is very informative. It's great to have a resource like this for us new owners! Take care and I hope to hear from you soon!!

Hello Christine and welcome to BW! You will love this site-there's so much information to help you with Rocky. I'm glad to hear that he is enjoying his home with you!! Happy you decided to join, too! My DH is a truck driver and is a member here, like me. He takes his laptop in his big truck and gets to be involved with this great site just like I do from home!!

Scent and smell is the easiest way to start introductions. Maybe right before your husband comes back, you could give Rocky something that your husband has used (pillowcases are a great for this!) that way, when your hubby comes home he'll at least have something familiar about him. But, if Rocky is a boxer pup, it won't take any time at all for him to warm up to someone who plays with him and gives him attention. Just have your husband give Rocky his favorite treat and he'll have a best friend for life! Boxers are very aware of family, so if you're happy to see hubby, so will Rocky. By the way, Welcome and give Rocky lots of hugs and treats!!

Thank you

Thank you for the suggestion. I have things my husband has used on a daily basis. And yes, I believe Boxers warm up to others fast. Rocky met my brother-in-law today and loved him. They played and hung out on the couch together alot and Rocky loved it. Of course so did my brother-in-law! Who can resist a face of a Boxer of any age? They are beutiful dogs! I am glad we chose this breed! So far he has been easy to train. We will start puppy school soon and puppy play groups, so I think it will only get better from here.

Welcome to BW!! Like I told your husband boxers are pretty good judges of character and I'm sure he will fall in love on first greeting sniff. Good luck to you and your family until you can be safely reunited we are praying for you.

Welcome to you, too Christine! You definiely picked the best breed! I had never even been familiar with a Boxer until I met my now fiance, and I have to say that they are the best dogs. I have a cocker spaniel that lives at my dad's house and although I love him to death, he is quite moody and can snap at you if he's not in a good mood. My Boxers have never snapped at me. They are just the most wonderfully loyal and sweet dogs. I hope that you and Rocky have many, many wonderful years together. I did have to warn your husband about the wiggles, kidney beans, and sloppy kisses, though! I didn't want him to come home and get his uniform ruined!! LOL!!! Welcome to BW. You will love it here.
Take care and enjoy that baby Rocky!!
