thinning hair

I have a 12 week old pup who has developed little spots where her hair is thinning.

Have done a search on this already, and don't think its seasonal alopecia, as it's tiny spots all over her body.

She's recently had what the vet thought was a very mild dose of kennel cough...but that's cleared up.

Only other thing I can think of is a food allergy...but she doesn't have a rash or anything else.

Any ideas on what it might be?

About the only things that come to mind are Demodectic Mange, reaction to insect bites, or some type of allergy ... the demo generally starts around the feet or face, but not always. Ruben is allergic to sandflies, and if bitten, the hair falls out at the site of the bite.

A visit to the vet for a check is probably your best option :)

Hope it is something minor - keep us updated.

Could be a food allergy. I have a friend with a boxer that was being fed Nutro Max. (Before both of us knew better)
She had thinning hair and flaky skin are a sign. (Biting at the feet is also a sign). Once my friend boxer was on canidae for 2 weeks her hair was grown back in thicker, softer and shinier then ever!!! And less gas and clearer eyes!!

Corn, soy and wheat are common allergens to dogs.

If you dont mind me asking, what food are you using?

Well she has been biting at her legs and feet ... so maybe it's food allergy.
She is a picky eater also.

We feed her around 75% premium and 25% raw/leftovers.
Have been on Eukanuba, now on a German brand called Bosch. (heard of it?)

I also wondered if it might be due to separation anxiety ...she hates being crated when we go to work. Can this cause hair loss?

I am sorry to say this, but it really sounds like demodectic mange. Both of my puppies have it, and the symptoms you are describing is what our two started with. I would recommend taking them to the vet right away. We are feeding our babies Wellness fish and potato. The fish and potato is supposed to be really good for their skin. It is a little high in price, but worth every penny. Good luck and keep us posted.
