Got off work and went out to visit "the girl". It was 92 degrees here in sunny Virginia, way too hot to go for much of a walk so we went for a short stroll so she could do her business and she was heading for the door panting. We sat in the so called lobby like a couple of old women and watched a bunch of new inmates arriving, of course no one admitted to owning any of the at least 10 cats and 4 dogs that came in the span of an hour that I was there. What a dismal place. Cannot wait to get her out of there. I'll keep you posted. Cindy

I hope this works out for you-you seem to have a connection with her. It's probably helping her spirits that you go see her everyday possible. I'm sending you the positive vibes that things work!!!!

She's home!!! And I feel like such a sleuth, I think I mentioned "Brindie" (how original?) had a tag on that was scraped badly and I was unable to read, well my daughter was able to decipher a phone # and the vet's name. I called and they told me her name had been "Brindie" and the last time she was seen was May 2004 and she is due for her shots! They were not able nor do I care to know her previous home. She settled in smoothly, is nonchalant around my cats and seems to be very well behaved. She has an appointment with my vet tomorrow. She was being treated for an URI with antibiotics at the shelter but they don't give them to the "adopter" as they don't dispense medicine, thank you very much. Pictures are coming-check em out!

One night down...next to our bed in Sophies old bed! I forgot all the many sound affects that come with your dog sleeping nearby. I didn't sleep well because I was waiting for her to get up and want to go out, she got up once and I think she was confused- like where am I? Other then that, it was smooth, she slept or should I say snored thru the night. I CANNOT believe that this has been so easy, I really don't know why her family didn't search for her, she is SO sweet! Her pics did not download- we will try again today.
My husband doesn't like the spelling that I used so you may see it change abit, whatever, I think it is Brinde now. (?) The poor girl this morning when my husband got up, tried to follow him and fell down the stairs, maybe not used to stairs? She was used to beds tho, on coming up to bed last nite, she jumped right up and settled down on our bed. She had to get down and sleep in Sophies old bed which is very nice fleece, 3 cats and 2 adults is already too many in one bed...maybe Rich (my husband) could sleep in the guest room. --Cindy

Congrats on giving Brindie (Brinde) a great home. Thanks so much for doing this, if only every animal in the shelter could find a home like this the world would be a great place. I wish that more people would spay and neuter and that when a person decides to bring an animal into their home that they would realize that it is a family member and you don't dispose of family members. I get so aggravated over these things, no one is made to own an animal, so why does so many people feel like they have to have one only to ignore and neglect them? Gets me started everytime. Well at least Brindie has a great home now and that is wonderful. lovicon

Bear with me or I should say, my husband, he is again trying to get Brindes pics on. Insisting he is doing everything right, well lets hope this time!
Lots to update, I took her to my vet on Friday, she is negative heartworm (yeh!!!) and weighs 43 lbs. She had a faint positive for lymes but the vet said they don't really treat just keep an eye on her for stiffness, true?
Hershey, my male cat who was very close to Sophie tried to rub on Brinde and Brinde snapped at him, scared him and my son. We had just finished dinner and Brinde was looking for a hand out and I think that is why she did that. Other than that ,it has been smooth. I crated her today as we were all working, my son home first so he let her out-. I really don't think I will need to crate her but right now until I see Brinde is going to be okay with my 3 cats I will continue while at work. She has full rein all other times. I have had dogs forever and never had a watchdog until Brinde, she has been here 5 days and when someone comes to the door, she goes nutZ, barking, growling, horrible but once whomever comes in she seems okay, of course I am holding on to her, Already feeling at home? She is a sweetie all other times but do you think I need to work on that? Whats that saying about old dogs, new tricks. Sophie and Ginger both, anyone could walk in here and I never worried but I wonder about Brinde. I wish I knew her story, 8 years is alot of history. She obviously was loved as she is trained so I know this is hard or new also for her, dealing with a new family. Any thoughts? Thanks!
