Thinking about getting another boxer

I brought Kendall home when Keagen was about 8 months old. She was not jealous at all, just pissed when we would not let her play with her "new toy." Getting my 2nd boxer was the best thing ever; Keagen had something to take out all of her energy.

Now I got my first 2 from BYB and didn’t know any better. Keagen was 8 months and Kendall was 6 weeks. Everything was great until Kendall reached maturity and had out grown her alpha sister Keagen. Then the bitch fighting began. It is TERRIBLE and for about 8 months they could not be out together at all. Several trips to the vet for various injuries resulted. Today we have worked through most of it and as I have read on this site it is very RARE for them to be able to work through bitch fighting. Usually once it starts it will not stop until they are not together any more. Anyway I hope your two do not start fighting but I will never have to females in the same house again..... EVER!

We had a wonderful time with our two females -- they loved each other and never had a fight. I understand that we were very fortunate in this regard.

We now have one male (6-months-old) and are thinking of getting his brother (littermate). We're hoping that two males get along as well as our girls did. They were our joy.

I also want a little brother for Zoey. But I'm undecided... I want one now so I can have two wiggley bundles of joy, but I also want to wait until Zoey has some training. I'm just going along and if I come across someone who might be 'the' one, then I guess it'll happen then!

Two Females

I honestly don't understand this thing about 2 females .

Me either I know lots of people who have 2 females and do awesome together. I myself have two and they love each other to death, even at daycare or the park with so many other dogs around those two can't get enough of each other Sadie was a year 1/2 when I got Star at 3 1/2 months old. good luck you can't go wrong with two boxer's there truly a hoot

Diesel was born 8/21/2005 we adoptewd Lilly on 12/10. She is 11 months old. For us the transition was smooth, although we did not get a baby, but a young pup. Lilly was housetrained already, and has helped Diesel with the housetraining. Diesel had completed Pupy Kindergarten before Lilly came home. Overall it has been a fun transition and I am so glad I adopted her when I did, they are the best of friends, and enjoy each other so much.

While some females get along together, The majority of them do not.

is this more common in boxer's? or all breeds, I have friends who have two female cocker spaniels, another two F docksin's and many whom I've met at the park. I have done some research on my own and have also read, some males and females don't get along, and have read a few on here. I've always thought it was in the owner and how there raised in your home? I'm turly not an expert it just stumps me thats all

It is more common with Boxers, and a few other scrappy breeds. While 2 females can get along, it's far more likely that they won't. And you won't usually notice any problems until the younger of the 2 reaches maturity. Once females start fighting, they don't simply fight for dominance -- they fight to remove the other female from the pack altogether. The same issue exists with 2 males, however the fighting isn't usually as bad. Boxers generally pair best male/female

Iv'e always thought it was how there raised with in the home. Is it a fifty fifty chance or like 9 times out 10 ? I pray my two never experience it

We are looking at getting a second and were told right away that it would have to be a boy from our breeder. It would be to hard of a decision if we had to get rid of one. I'm trying to cover all the bases. For those of you who have 2 boxers. Are they crate trained? Do you put the crates next to each other or away from each other so they can't see each other?
