A bar of soap was the first thing Piper ate that she wasn't suppose to when we got her home. Ah, the fond memories.

Honestly this didn't scare me nearly as badly as when he ate the silica gel packet out of the electronics box... you know, the one that has DO NOT EAT in giant bold letters all over it. ;) I honestly thought my dog was going to die when I caught him swallowing that. Apparently though, they are not poisonous to dogs. The emergency vet looked it up and said there wasn't even really much danger of them expanding and causing a blockage, since he was already 35 lbs at the time. Talk about panic attack. Compared to that the soap was just a mild concern

Well, I guess our Bella isn't so strange after all. We knew she had food issues when we got her because she was seriously underweight. She will eat ANYTHING that strikes her fancy and the other night it was a bar of yummy-smelling cocoa butter soap that my daughter had left on her bed after unpacking from a trip.

She (daughter) immediately called her ex-roommate who is now doing her intern work after completing vet school and she said not to panic. She told her to give the little thief a quarter cup or so of hydrogen peroxide and she would almost certainly vomit the whole mess up.

Bingo - in less than a minute the nastiest foamiest mess you've ever seen deposited in the back yard.
An hour later she was hungry again.
