MOMMA KAREN
Boxer Pal
I am having a real hard time dealing with the death of my aunt. My mom passed away when I was 24. I was devastated. She was only 51. Up until this point in my life I had been a wild child and a bit of a hellraiser. When Mom died I turned to my dad and brother for comfort and support. Unfortunately they took advantage of my grief and really laid into me about what a horrible person I was and that I didn't love Mom and all I did was cause her pain and worry. The only person who did not throw me away was my aunt Marianne. She and my mom were not only sisters, but best friends. I will never forget having to tell her that Mom was gone, it was almost as bad as losing Mom.
Together we found comfort in each other and she became a second mom to me. Even though we were more than 300 miles apart, we were always there for each other. Aunt Marianne was sick herself and on Disability and Medicaid, but we always focused on the here and now and enjoyed every opportunity to be together whether it was on the phone or when I would go for a visit. She helped me let go of my pain and anger and do some much needed growing up and gain the self esteem I needed to be true to me and love me for who I am.
She never married or had her own children, so I became her "daughter". I sent money when I could or sometimes flowers or a gift basket just to let her know I was thinking of her and that I loved her. I will always love her.
Friday, Nov. 5 my cousin called me to tell me of her passing. The pain is indescribable. My brother and my dad and I have not been close since Mom died. I feel so alone and grief stricken. I just had to get it out. My husband has been wonderful, but the pain is unreal. I was hoping for some good BW vibes, maybe that will help.
