I am writing this message to completely endorse the AMAZING experience we have had with the book The Dog Listener.

After posting on thhis site about aggression/alpha issues with our boxer, Cowboy - Tulsa Dan recommended this, along with several other books (we started with this book), and it has been nothing short of miraculous.

Our dog is turning into a happy -go-lucky dude!! He had been very protective, even refusing to let us out the house on occassion, had become a growly with our daughter (on one occassion showing outright aggression), always had to enter a rioom before us, the whole deal.

Within 24 hour hours - by removing his need to be alpha, by establishing ourselves as Alpha he has become so much more relaxed, and playful, for the first time in about a year he has rolled onto his back willingly and been completely submissive for belly rubs. UNBELIEVABLE.

Now - of couse it has only been 24 hours and we are only half-way through the book, but we started with the basic technique of completely ignoring him when he is being wild and demanding - he has ripped a pair of my sweatpants tugging on the leg! He was desperate for me to acknowledge him as alpha - but I kept on with the technique (hubby as well), and it has been nothing short of amazing.

I just wanted to endorse this book with ANYONE having any short of control issues/aggression and just give it a try. You can order it on amazon.com

For his improved behavior we rewarded him with a new toy called a giggly wiggly - it is HYSTERIcal - he loves it and plays a good hour of fetch in teh afternoon!

I am so glad to hear of the success you've had with "The Dog Listener." Great! I too believe it is nothing short of miraculous in its simplicity and effectiveness. I swear by it. And, for your dog to turn around so after only one day is remarkable.

Be prepared, however, for a lot of testing from Harley in the next few weeks (2 or 3), once the initial confusion is over with the change of "leadership." He'll try every trick in the book to get things back the way they were. But be resolved and don't let him have the upper hand. In about 4 weeks, you'll see him finally reach that "extinction burst" period where he will give up all that useless testing and settle into his proper role.

Congratulations on your success and keep up the good work. You'll be amazed even further as you get into it how well it works and how much fun you're going to have working with your dog once he understands his role.
