Hello! I am fairly new to the site so, I don't know if this has been discussed before...

but Penalty loves the couch. The minute I stop petting him, he gets on the couch. He gets the blanket up with his nose, then falls under it, and always has his head on the pillow.

I have read in many Boxer books, that they love to have a place to sit their heads. So, when we went to THE PET SCHOOL, I was taught enforcement rules to apply to the couch problem...it doesn't work!

Does anyone else's boxer love the couch as much as Penalty does?

Lacie is not allowed on the couch but if one of the pillows is on the floor than she will lay her head on it. Its sooooo cute.

Oh yeah! Ali loves the couch and has her favorite spot on the end with not one but two pillows if possible. Add the blanket? Heaven!

She's only allowed on the family room couch (it's 15 years old). Don't know what we'll do when we replace it. ;)

Mack is not supposed to get on the couch..........(can't say he never does it!) But they really do like to have a place to put their head, almost like it is too heavy to hold up. Sometimes he will just stand by the ottoman and rest his head. Brains are heavy!

Yes Sydney loves the couch. We are currently trying to train her to "get up" and "off". That way at least we will have some control over the timing. While we love having her lay with us on the couch we are guessing that not all our guests will appreciate sharing their sitting space. Especially when she decides that your lap is the best pillow ever. Oddly enough we are having great success with "off". She can seem to figure out "up" though.

Indy and Beauty both love the couch. I have two in my den and they each have a favorite. I have never not let them lay on the couch. I'm not much of a disciplinarian. I like for them to cuddle with me. They also lay their head on the throw pillows. Sometimes Indy will rest his head on Beauty - she's much smaller than he. Anyway, Penalty should get the picture with a little patience from you.

I just got a new living room set, so I had to train Boomer to stay away from it. It wasn't as hard as I thought, but he DOES try to sneak up on the couch every now and then. I bought him a doggy bed that we tote room to room for him that he seems to like. Do you have a bed for your boxer? Boomer just loves his.

I keep a couple of those big, round dog pillows in my house - one in the living room, and one by my bed. But if there's no pillow available, Gilroy in particular will put his head on SOMETHING when he lies down. Even if it's just a sock on the carpet.
He also LOVES to bed down in the dirty laundry on laundry day. I think he looks forward to basking in those sorted piles that smell soooo good.
My dogs aren't allowed on the couches, and they're very good about it - at least while I'm home. I've found some suspiciously warm spots on occasion when I've detected a slightly guilty tone to their "welcome home" dances.
Whoever said boxers were dumb was way off base!! :)

Our Duquessa LOVES the couch or beds, anything soft. Yesterday, I told her to "get off that couch!",(I was cleaning, otherwise I would have let her stay) she did, and immediately left the room and went up and got on my bed! I give up, sleep anywhere you want! OH, and a pillow is a must! Boxer's are way too funny.

Maggie loves doing that in the dirty clothes when I sort them in piles on the floor. Her favorite bed.

She has her own couch. It was an old loveseat that the cat had destroyed, which I had planned to replace with some nice reclining chairs. But along came Maggie and she chose it for her own. She also sits on my couch with me, or sleeps on the opposite side from my side (until I get up and then she's moved immediately to my spot!), always with her head resting on pillows.

At night she sleeps with me and puts her head next to mine on my pillow. She has her own pillows on the bed, but she seems to like being on mine.

Call me a bad daddy, but I love when she's snuggled up next to me on the couch or on the bed. That's one of the reasons I got a Boxer, because they are so affectionate. Wouldn't have it any other way.
