The Boxer Look??

OK, So I have a somewhat strange question...I have two six month old boxers that are pure bred but not AKC (not planning to show or breed so doesn't really matter) but they have a more pointy face almost like a beagle. They have the body shape, size and traits of a boxer, color of a boxer but the face isn't the "standard" droopy eyes, short "snout", with the droopy jowls. I am just wondering if this is common. The mom and dad both looked like a traditional boxer and the "breeders" said that their heads develop differently over time. I am just curious more than anything.

I love my guys so I think they are beautiful no matter what but I've just had so many questions about these "breeders" from shortly after we got them but they are better off with us so I would never take them back.

Feel free to look at my guys and tell me your thoughts. Please be nice, these are my babies. Maybe some of you had pups that looked like this and changed? Or are there some boxers that take on a different look? The internet returned scattered results.

Thanks for the input.

After looking in your gallery they look like they have longer snouts which I have seen before. They are so cute.

They are adorable! Their snouts are a little longer - like a pit bull almost. I have seen that on here before as well. I doubt they will change too much more. But they are too cute and they are your babies!

I agree...

They do have sort of the pit bull look in the face. Which is fine because we love both breeds. Someone was telling me that they can have a sort of "terrier" look. I've seen a few, I just wondered about it. We think they are adorable and they are the sweetest things ever.

Boxer looks

My pup to me looked like a pit when he was little. His parents are not the standard looking boxers.. Well his dad was he had the really short nose big jowels but he was close to 100 pounds so he was definately bigger then a standard boxer.. Revans mom had a little longer nose then normal. So my pup is in the middle i guess. He seems to be changing all the time though.. Go through the gallery of pictures on here and you will see pups that look like yours when they were puppies and then you will see them when they are like 2 years old and they look totally differnet..Like they transformed into another dog. Its crazy.. But they are like your kids anyway you gotta love them.

Well... to me they look like they are definitely mixed with something else other than boxer (not that it matters, they are cuties)... it might have been that one of the parents was a mix, or that the "breeders" don't exactly know who the dad is, or that two males got to the female.

If you look at my gallery, Laika (who is a total BYB dog by the way) has a longer snout, but still retains the "boxer look"... your babies seem to have not just a longer muzzle, but a different shape to their noses as well.

All that being said, I think they're adorable and super squishable. :)

Thanks...

In looking at the pictures, Revan looks little like my Lola just slightly shorter face. Entelekia, I'm not ruling out the possibility that they could be mixed. Here's something interesting, They have the same dad but different moms. Dax's mom had slightly pointier face but still looked like a boxer like your Laika. Dax's litter all looked the way he does except one. Lola's mom was a beautiful, traditional looking brindle. All but Lola looked like a standard boxer. Their Dad was flashy fawn and looked 100% like a boxer. They are papered through the UAB but I don't know that it means anything. I didn't really care, I just don't like the thought that their moms are probably puppy machines. I wish I would have better educated myself before.

Oh well, I love my babies. Thanks for the feedback.

SoCal,

I have two that are longer in the muzzle.

From what I understand mixes don't usually inherit the boxer body. A lot of people use this method to determine if theirs is a mix. Boxers are wide in the chest and have that "tight tummy tucked" look.

Your pups are adorable. How can you stand so much cuteness?
