Why on earth would you want a dog to bite someone? That's potentially very, very dangerous and could result in you being liable for injuries to another person and the dog being put to death. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS.

Boxers are GUARD DOGS, not attack dogs. If you want an attack dog you have the wrong breed.

Boxers inately know when someone or something is dangerous and will protect you instinctively. You need not teach a boxer to bite someone. That's just the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

I suggest you go through the threads here and read about boxer traits and then go to the American Kennel Club http://www.akc.org and read more about the boxer breed.

I agree with the last person that responded to this message!!! I don't understand why you would want to teach your dog to bite. I have a 7 month female boxer and she loves to play and sometimes she gets a little over excited and will play bite. But I stop her right away, I will just stop playing that game and walk away. Please really think this through, you will just end up hurting your puppy down the road. Tami

Dogs like people, have their own personalities. All boxers do not instinctively protect or if pressed, attack if their owners are threatened. I have seen many dogs bark and growl as if "protecting", only to retreat or run if the threat continues toward them. I have also seen many dogs, boxers included, that had to be trained to guard and if pressed to attack.

There are different levels of guard dog training. Some dogs can be trained to guard property and to bite trespassers. Dogs can be trained to guard by just standing their ground and warning the person by barking. They can also be trained to attack if owner or family is threatened. These dogs are trained to warn the threat by barking first and then biting if the someone presses the point (advancing toward owner or posing some immediate physical harm). I have witnessed many dogs trained to attack on command and to cease the attack on command. The difficulty in training a dog to guard and if need calls to attack is having a professional trainer train the dog and most importantly that the owner of the dog is responsible.

Exactly. I have never (and will never) teach my boxer to bite someone when I say so, but I know that if I were in any real danger, that my Sammy would protect me with all he's got. But don't go about trying to teach him that, it would be dangerous.
Certainly NOT a good idea.

I agree with everyone on the bite command being a very bad idea. I know that my furbabies would protect me or my kids- and have done so when I was attached by a pit a few weeks ago while on our morning walk.

In addition to just being a bad idea- you should also consider the legal penalties if your dog DOES bite someone!

Hmmmm...seems I have read this question somewhere before?? but you never did explain what the reason for teaching the bite command is.

Jaz is now 9 weeks old, and bites because she is a puppy. Teaching a dog is very dangerous. I cannot remember where you are from, but most states in the U.S will order a dog put down, and its owner in jail if someone is bitten by a dog. There was a woman in California attacked and killed, by a dog; the owners did several years in jail. Please do not teach your baby a "bite command."

HOW DANGEROUS!
If and when the time comes your dog will protect you!
My two will let out one bark to make sure we have seen what they consider to be a danger and thats what you want.
Training dogs in this silly way is how so many end up in rescue centres and are vicious.

Yes, everyone is right here - boxers are meant to be "guard" dogs.

If it's protection you're looking for, my mom told me once that the right dog instinctively knows when it needs to protect its family - you will not need to teach it. Training a dog to attack will only result in problems and heartache down the road.

If your boxer is anything like the three of mine, no one will ever mess with you - the bark from any of my three is 1000 X worse than their bite. Even from our Miss Angel, and we've only had her four weeks - that's how fast she's learned this is her home and we are her family.
