OK, I am looking for all you boxer maniacs to throw your feedback this way. I was just wondering what is the one trick you always wished to teach your boxer but have not gotten around to it yet.

With Jedi I feel like I have this big empty blackboard to fill up with information, and just have to work at it and decide what to teach.

There are two tricks I would LOVE to eventually teach Jedi, and was wondering what others have they wish to teach or plan to teach in the long run. I am not talking sit, stay, down tricks, but the fun stuff. You know the tricks like you point your finger as a gun at them say bang and they roll over and play dead.

The tricks I eventually hope to teach Jedi will be a fun ones. I will tell all my male friends how darn smart he is and to prove it I will ask Jedi,"What do you know about women?", and for Jedi to sit down and do a big head tilt. That or to ask,"Want to go shopping?" and have him lay down and put his paws over his head like he is hiding. I know they are goofy tricks, that is what I am looking for.

Can't wait to hear what you all have percolating in your minds just waiting to be shared.

I affectionately refer to them as "party tricks." Those are the tricks I like to teach too, and my hubby teaches the "real" commands like sit, stay, etc. Chewy knows the old "Bang" trick with the gun, and roll-over, and sneak (crawls on tummy like a navy seal). I haven't taught him anything cuter than those though.

I remember reading about someone on BW who taught their dog "terrible state" - and when they said this, their dog would lay down and cover up his eyes with his paws - or something like that.

My cousin long ago taught their cocker spaniel to sneeze on command, but I have no idea how. They also taught her how to "take a bow", and I think they taught her how to "pray" before mealtimes.

We taught my parent's dog to catch a dog biscuit that was perched on her nose - we'd balance it on her nose and say STAY STAY then GET IT and she'd flip the bone off her nose and catch it!

Now, Annie, on the other hand just doesn't get it! I put the biscuit on her nose but I SWEAR I need gloves on from all the dang drool trying to hold her snout down to "teach" her to not touch it till I say GET IT LMAO

We have taught Toby to sit, shake, stay, lie down etc all the basics, but the fun one we saw a friend's pug do is say "big dog coming" and he falls over dead and stays! So we have been working w/ Toby but instead we tell her " little dog coming" and she lays over and stays, does'nt always work, and she does'nt fall over like the pug, she casually lays over but it is really funny!

My tricks for Daphne

ok so besides sit, stand, stay (which she is a pro at), heel, right, left, speak, etc she knows:

Go around - when she wraps her leash on a tree

Bang - you know what happens then

Circle - EVERYONE SHOULD DO THIS. I put a towel on the floor and when she comes in from being out side I make her circle on the towel and wipe her paws off

wave (still working on that)

Give me skin (behind my back)

high five - she jumps

Kiss - jumps and kisses me

get the paper - actually started this one this morning

No Bite - she automatically gets one of her toys

Look - look at me and NEVER take your eyes off of me (she is pretty good at that

Hmm there are probably others, I wantt to work on the terrible state, that sounds cute!

My old neighbors dog would speak on command and then then if you went shhh he would bark very low it was so coool. It seemed the more you would shhh the lower his bark would go.

I have a friend who's dog does little dog and big dog. If you say little dog, it barks real soft and when you say big dog, it barks really loud. It's so cute. I saw in a boxer book to teach your dog so sorry which I think would be cute. They have such expressive eyes. I also like the crawling idea.

Well, we are pretty boring here. We do the usual commands and a hand shake.
I would like to teach mine to fetch the TV remote on command!!

What I think is so funny is....... If my boxers see you eating something they want, they offer behavior. It is so funny, they do everything we ever taught them, just to see which one will get them some of that great food!!

So do mine. If you say Circle and she sits, she realizes she didnt do the right thing so she sits, speaks, gives kisses and playes dead, Hopefully one of these is the right thing to get the treat.

I did notice today after teaching her the paper I went into the treat closet and she proceded to start drooling. I guess that whole bell behavior is kicking in.
