I took Kevin to the dog park this past weekend.

He's pretty bad about jumping up. He just loves everybody, and thinks every face would be improved by a few well placed licks. I've been trying to work on this with him, but it can be kinda hard - lots of people he meets tend to encourage it a bit, and it can be a bit difficult to say "Hahaha, yeah... but I'm actually trying to discourage this behavior...."... I'll get better at it, I promise. He's just so full of love and energy : )

Anyways, I took Kevin to the park, and of course, he made a bee-line for an older guy standing there watching some of the other dogs play. To his credit, Kevin did initially just sit and smile at the guy, but then he started jumping up and going for the face licks.

So I ran over there apologizing, and the guy, who was being good about blocking Kevin from jumping up but laughing at the same time, said "Son, don't apologize for a friendly boxer, that's like apologizing for sunshine."

I'm still going to work on trying to get Kevin to be a bit more respectful about going for the face, but man... what that guy said has been bouncing around in my head for a couple of days, and I think he hit the nail on the head.

Just though I'd share with you guys.

Most dog owners understand this kind of behavior. He was super sweet to say what he did. That really made me smile!!
