Yes, those are the exact words a guy said to me when I was taking Gizmo for his afternoon walk yesterday. This guy doesn't even live in our neighborhood he works for a moving company. (Our neighbors are moving). Well, he caught me by surprise because usually when people see Gizmo they always give me a compliment about his coat or they want to pet him. When this guy said “you need to put a muzzle on that dog” the only thing that came out of my mouth was “I can walk my dog without a muzzle. Thank you for your opinion” and walked away. I wasn’t trying to be rude but now that I think of it his comment really bothered me  I would have understood if Gizmo was barking or doing something wrong but he wasn’t. As time passed by I realized how this guy had the nerve in saying something like that. I wonder what this guy was thinking when he saw us coming towards him. I guess some people are silly like that foolicon I just had to vent.

:p on that! Geez, the nerve of some people. I'll bet, for the rest of the day, you were thinking of all the things you could've said to put that jerk in his place (although you're response was much more controlled than anything I would've been able to come up with in that situation). ;)

People are so ignorant. I honestly don't know how I will react when/if someone says something to me about Killian. I think I have been pretty fortunate that when I take him places a lot of people might act fearful at first but will come ask me about him and I can tell them a bit about boxers and let them meet him. I think you handled yourself very well, though I do agree you could have always said "YOU need the muzzle buddy!!" :)

Boxers have a bad reputation. People think they look scary. The first thing my mom said when I told her my wife and I are getting a boxer was something to the effect of "aren't those mean dogs? Why do you want one of those?" She thinks he's the cutest thing now when I send him pictures. We'll see what she thinks once he's a well-trained, well-behaved dog.

There was something similar on The O'Reilly Factor the other day about pit-bulls and how many cities have banned them all-together. People won't accept that it's the training and not the breed. Surely, there are breeds such as the pit-bull that are often trained to be essentially a weapon, but it's not the breed - it's the people who train them that way.

I can understand you being upset. My husbands step brother was saying that my 5 month brindle was sick looking, that I don't feed him right that he is a stupid dog. He was comparing my dog to a rottweiler. The rottweilers have a very different body structure then the boxers. PJ weighs 37lbs he has a little butt, big chest like all boxers. I got so mad that I started yelling at him.

Sorry about that Maniago. Thanks for moving it. ;)
Crowpete It's so true what you wrote. I should have told him that he needed the muzzel.
PatrickJamie My mom thought the same way at first about Gizmo. If you can only see her now. She spoils him as much as I do.
Lincoln48 I'm glad you told your husbands stepbrother off!!
