Territorial Domination?

My boxer Buster seems to be getting a bit aggressive, It's with any dog that bites/nips (Preferabely nips) I've uploaded a video on his behaviour with my Grandmas dog. When one has a ball or is getting more attention that Buster he has a snap, not biting bad but Buster can pretty much fit Teddys whole head in his mouth. Teddy nips him now and get and Buster lets out an aggressive bark.

See the video below for a better explanation:

This was in the early stages when he first began getting a little jealous, which is all I took it as:

YouTube - Buster Getting Jealous!

Now it's turned into this:

YouTube - Buster getting a bit to aggressive

As you see Teddy takes the ball while Buster is chomping on his bone and when Buster notices he has it he flips? Is it because it is his ball or what? I wouldn't have thought there would be any excuse for him to be like that, he's fed and walked well, never hit him or anyting like that. I play with him in the garden more than enough. I'm confused..

I personally see nothing wrong with your boys style of play except that it IS a Boxer style of play. Very boisterous and on his hind legs (boxing).
In the video I can't see any type of biting or nipping (could be there, just can't see it). That would probably make a difference.
That being said Teddy has the ball and walks past Buster. It can clearly been seen by Buster yet he doesn't do anything. If he were truly aggressive or even wanting to guard HIS ball then he would show a different form of behavior.
You can also learn a lot from Teddy. He isn't afraid of Busters actions. I don't know his personality but neither are displaying "dog top" behavior meaning that one isn't submitting to the other. No fights are breaking out or stances being shown.
Again this is just my opinion based on two very short videos! I kept waiting for something to happen.
You have every right to redirect Buster's behavior if what he is doing is something you would rather not be seeing out of him.
An aggressive, truly aggressive dog (with guarding tendencies) in that same situation, I would suspect, would not have let another dog take his ball and if it did he would have gotten it back by any means including fighting. The fact that Teddy ended up with the ball again and walked past Buster with it was a sign of a desire to play.
Hopefully others will chime in with their opinions. Having seen my girl play with another Boxer too many times to count I can tell you that it always looks and sounds way worse than what your videos show and it was always 100% play.

I agree with the above, I see nothing wrong. If he were truly being territorial he would not have allowed Teddy the chance to get the ball in the first place, he would have been guarding it with his life and would be showing aggressive behavior towards any dog that came near it. And, if he were being aggressive towards Teddy he would not have let him get away with the ball, and Teddy would be much more upset and would not want to play anymore. I see nothing like that whatsoever in the videos.

How old is Buster? I'm wondering if he has recently 'matured' so you are seeing 'dog' play as opposed to 'puppy' play and mistaking it for aggression. In the first video I saw him looking pretty playful and 'asking' for some interaction. In the 2nd video I didn't see any aggression and like the others was watching closely and waiting for the aggression to start and then the video ended.

yep, normal boxer play. I should take some video of my four...your video is very tame compared to what goes on here. Boxers play rough.

Took me a minute but I located the thread with a video of Cami playing with her cousin Sugar.
Sounds ferocious but it is all play.
Far more going on here than what Buster is doing. I think he is acting a like a perfectly normal Boxer. :D

Oh Susi, that video of Cami totally made me smile.

OP, I have to agree with the others that this is totally normal boxer play. I didn't see any aggression in those vids, just normal boxer play.

Here is Rowdy and his favorite playmate, Sascha.

Not trying to hijack this thread but I just have to say.....
There is no better medicine in the world than a Boxer.
I still can't watch videos of Cami but have no problem with and actually love seeing all the other Boxers here on BW.
Thanks for sharing Rowdy, Sascha and friends with us all.
