Just got home from work and Carson has hugh welts all over his head, face and body. He has tons of blood on his face from scratching. He was in his kennel all day long so I don't know what got to him:(

I've give him benadryl and a medicated bath so I hope he starts to get some relief soon.

I changed his food over a month ago to Royal Canin....could this be what is causing the problem even though he's not had a reaction to the food before?

Guess if he's not better by the morning it will be off to the vets.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like maybe he got bit or stung by something? Do you have centipedes? Cassius once got bit by one, and the same thing happened to him. If it were food related, I think he would be getting hives more frequently? Hopefully the benedryl gives him fast relief! Good luck.

Hives are not fun!

Bailey, my reverse brindle/lab, gets terrible hives too. About 4 mounth ago we switched her to Royal Canin because we heard great things about it. She got terrible hives and it was because she was allergic to something in the food. Maybe that could be the problem. Bailey gets hives so badly that we are considering an eppy pen so we can give her a shot at home. We also have a stock of Benedryl ready just in case we see a bump. Hope your guy feels better soon!! Hives are not fun!

Let me know how things go!

Just saw this thread, but probably a trip to the vet would have helped him. My previous Boxer had allergies to some bug bites. When ever I noticed the hives I would give him some benedryl and take him to the vet so they could give him a shot. The shot helped to the relieve the symptoms. You may want to be careful in the future that his throat doesn't start to swell and close up.

I hope he's feeling better this morning.

Carson's much better this morning. We went to the vet last night at 8:00pm and the doc fixed him up.

I'm going to spray for bugs this weekend because that's about the only thing I can think may have made this happen.

Carson broke out in hives again last night and still has them this morning. We're off to the vet at 7:30 this morning.

I have no idea what is causing him to do this! Poor boy looks like Rocky Balboa after a fight. His face is so swollen. :(

I'm hoping the vet will be able to help this morning because I'm at a loss as to what to do.

Poor Carson,
I hope you find out what is causing his hives. Keep us posted. Try and think of anything new you put in the house...carpets, new toys, cleaning products, new blanket for carson. I hope Carson feels better.

Good luck, keep us informed on how the boy is and what the vet found out. Hope he feels better.

Alaska our white boxer has 2 nicknames...."Monkey" (cause she jumps around like one)....and "Fat Face" because she also swells up and gets hives. We keep benadryl on hand and then off to the vet we go for a shot. They think it may be spider bites, but without putting her thru a huge wave of tests we are just speculating.
She looks like a Shar-pei wanna-be we she is like that. We are usually freaking out, but we try and make lite of it as much as possible so she doesnt stress out.
Good luck, I hope its just a bite and not a serious problem.
