Gracie loves to have a slice of cheese packed in her kong. It's not great for gas but if it will save my leather furniture while I'm out.....frogicon

When Maggie was teething, I took an old washcloth, wet it, wrung it out by hand, tied a knot in the middle of it and put it in the freezer. When she'd start teething and whining while chewing on something, or looking to chew on something inappropriate, I'd go to the freezer, take out her "puppycicle" and she'd play and chew on it for hours. The frozen cloth was very soothing to her gums and the knot gave her something to chew on and try to "undo" and the cloth was soft enough not to hurt her gums and new teeth.

Ice cubes are good too, if you don't mind wet areas where she chews on them :D And be sure to supervise always when a pup is chewing on something like a bone or rawhide or even ice cubes so they don't get too big a chunk and choke on it.

Give it a try. At least it was a very inexpensive solution for me.

Just a few suggestions to add. Old tube socks(clean of course;))soaked in water, rung out and frozen in a ziploc. Make up several at a time, it's a great way to use those socks with no mates or plenty of holes before the final toss in the trash. You could also ad a bonus treat by hiding something in the knot when you tie it up. A tasty treat of some kind, use your imagination.
Gumma bones are also great for teething pups, they have a little more "give" than the hard Nyla bones.
We try to stay away from Knotted Rawhide but find the Pressed Rawhide to be a good substitute. It also lasts a lot longer! :p
