Our Marco has already lost his little teeth but more adult teeth are coming in. He's 6 months old. Some days he just won't eat or play, I even add water to his food so it's mushy and he still doesn't want it. I'm pretty sure it's his teeth bothering him, is there anything I can give him to help ease the pain? How about one of those baby rings that you put in the freezer that babies teethe on? Thanks!

Save yourself some $$ and give the dog ice cubes to chew on.

Or, what I did for Maggie was to take an old wash cloth, tie a knot in the middle of it, dampen it and put it in the freezer. When she started chewing/teething on something (she actually would whine when chewing it hurt her so) I'd give her the wash cloth. She LOVED it. She could get the ends back to her molars and chew the knot with her front teeth and the ice cold numbed her gums so it wasn't painful for her to teeth.

Give it a try.

Good luck.

Some have recommended frozen bagels. I tried them when Ava started losing her teeth. Of course Indy had to have one also.

They seemed to work just fine, but we were fortunate, neither Indy nor Ava seemed to have much trouble with teething.

Just the same, they still enjoy frozen bagels when I think to get them. They last a while too.

I did the same thing that Dan did, but I wet the cloth and spread some peanut butter over it before I froze it. This helps Munson to want to chew it more. :)

Frozen (wet it first) rope bones work wonders too & they don't shred up all your wash clothes. You can also wash the rope bones in the washing machine when they get funky.

Oooooooh puppy teething.... how I do not miss it. :)

(Nice cashmere scarves from Ireland are also apparently great teething relief but not economically feesible. :))

about the washcloths....

Please beware. We used washcloths with Vixen, and she loved them! Loved them so much, that she ate an entire full-sized bathroom washcloth and kept it in her tummy for 10 days! (And at the time, she was not a big boxer - 7 months and 41lbs.) Luckily, it didn't cause a blockage, and she threw it up, but not before throwing up her food for several days, and scaring us to death. Keep an eye on it and take it away when it gets too soft.

How in the world did a 7 mo old pup eat an entire washcloth? Were you not watching the dog? Don't blame the treatment, it was entirely your responsibility to supervise your puppy (or any dog of any age) when they are chewing bones, rawhide, washclothes, etc., etc. It would therefore appear to me, from your post, that you were not watching your dog and the dog was unsupervised long enough to have ingested an entire wash cloth. Shame !! :(

If you are pro-Barf, raw meaty bones do miracles for teething, Igor's went unnoticed!!! For Pénéloppe, who was on kibbles on that time, a frozen rope bone seems to do very fine.

Hope something will help my little "nephew", my sister'S American Bulldog puppy, he's a real shark, and not even in his teething phase!!!
