Teeny bump on head--Daycare wound or worse?

I noticed a tiny hard bump-smaller than a pea--on the top of Layla's head Saturday morning when I pet her. It was right after a full day of doggie daycare and in typical boxer fashion, she comes home often with some scratches and the like afterwards. When I try to inspect it closely, she pulls away as if it hurts her so I can't see anything. It has not gotten bigger or smaller since Saturday. My question is, if it is not a scratch or scab, and god forbid, a tumor, would she pull away in pain when I touched it? Just looking for any advice before calling the vet.

How is she, when you usually try and touch her head? If she is normally okay and doesn't pull away when you try and touch her head, then that would indicate that something is botheing her.

I would just keep and eye on it and if it gets bigger or seems to be getting infected a trip to the vet would be in order.

She is normally fine with me touching her head but I have freaked out before when I saw something on her torso, leg, etc but upon close inspection is is always just a scratch that has been scabing and caused her fur to "puff" out a bit. I just can't get close enough to examine her head because the bump is too small to see but definitely prominent enough to feel. She jerks back and starts "kissing" my hands-(we taught bite inhibition as a pup by licking or "kisses" ) so I know when she does this to our hands she really wants to bite because it hurts her. I will keep an eye on it very closely.

Please pay close attention to any lump on your boxer. My boxer had a small lump on the top of her head next to the base of her ear. Two vets told me it was nothing to be concerned about. It began to get larger so I insisted it be removed. It was found to be cancerous. Fortunately we removed it in time and she is fine. Check it periodically for any changes and inform your vet.

could possibly be a bug bite.. them make ur baby swell up where it bit, but i would watch it

Portia had the same type of hard lump on her head at around age 1 1/2. Turned out to be just a cyst that the vet removed. Her other four lumps turned out to be benign tumors. I now call her Lumpy LOL. Thank goodness she hasn't had any lumps in over a year now. She has however started having seizures. Can't wait to see what this is going to be. This is the first pure breed we've ever had and has had by far the most problems.

Do you have fire ants where you are? Sable love to play outside but I have to really watch her. If she gets bit she gets the normal bump but it seem to be very sore for her.
