Teenage stage?

My Isis is just about 8 months and I am curious if she is starting her "teenage" stage in life. Today has been quite a day w/her. She dumped over the kitchen trash can and pulled out the left overs from last night. That was my fault though since I left the trash can out to use while I was cleaning the house. When I put her out in the back yard to pee she wiggled her butt under neath the fence and took off around the neighborhood. Then I put my finches out today to enjoy the sun and I put Isis out as well and she knocks over the bird cage and out the birds go. Then while I was giving my kids a bath she some how got the wooden spoon I used to cook dinner with out of the skin. Then she got into ds' (he is 2 yrs old) and got into the diaper pail and pulled out a dirty diaper. She has knocked down my dd (5 yrs) so many times today or stolen one of dd's toys while my dd has been playing with it. I am hoping tomorrow will be less eventful in the life of Miss Isis.

Oh yeah, Ronin also started this at about eight or nine months. I asked his breeder one day, about this sudden severe lack of judgment. I'll never forget what her response was. That at this stage, he will do "everything and anything he can" just to just tick us off ! She also said that it would only last for a few months however (about seven months for him  ). Sure enough, at about 16 months he was just about over that 'phase' in his life. Phew!!! :D

Sounds like a typical teenager. How much exercise is she getting? I mean the all out "All I want to do is sleep" exercise. She sounds like she could be bored and is coming up with her own thing to do to keep her occupied.

Aside from keeping everything out of her reach that you don't want her to have the very best thing for her right now during this period is to tire her out a few times a day. She won't have the energy to get in trouble!

My girl is almost 2 and goes non-stop from the time she gets up. She needs multiple rounds of high energy burning activities daily. Games of fetch, playing frisbee and long walks help alot. Also, training works really well in tiring them out. The mental stimulation can have the same effect on their activity level as a long walk.

I have also been have a teenager problem. My Harley (7 months) has been driving me crazy with his chewing on things and chasing the cat and all the other things that I thought he was over a few months ago, so I feel your pain.

Cinny is 7 months.. and she is doing wonderful! Although now that Ive just posted that Ive probably jinxed myself. Shes listening great--not perfect mind you but its good enough for now. The only advice I can give you is keep at it. She'll grow out of it

He He He!! It has only just begun. When Muggsy went through this stage we were dumb and thought he was mad at us for leaving him home. No he was not he was just being a terror. He ate my couch cushion, opened a bottle of laundry soap all over the floor, opened a bag of potting soil in the living room, ate my school text books....etc. (This is before I was introduced to boxerworld and the lovely land of the crate) Now he is crated but I am sure would do just fine out of the crate. The distruction stage lasted quite a while. Good luck! If crated and not left unattended the damage should be minimal. Sorry to scare you :p I still wouldn't trade him for anything in the world. Jack is not distructive so it all depends (Now that I say that I am going to go home to a mess :) )
