Hi, i have a 6month old white boxer, with a patch, and his tear stains are getting quite bad. I have got special tear stain removing products which do help a bit but are not quite effective enough. I have stopped using them as his tear stain by his white eye has become raw, and looks sore. When i pull out his wrinkle, it is always damp and there is hardly any fur there.. it is also red roar in parts. How can i get this to heal and remove the tear stain?? i thought about a salty solution to cleanse it with?? please help..

We have a white english bulldog and she has real bad tear stains also. We've tried to stain pads to no avail. We are trying a mix now of cornstarch, hydrogen peroxide and milk of manesium. Mix equal parts of the peroxide and milk of magn. and add cornstarch to thicken to a paste. We've used it for about 3days and noticed a difference already, although a long way to go. I've heard to wipe the wrinkles daily with a damp washcloth and add vaseline inside the wrinkles to keep soft. I think there have been other threads on here about tear stains too, you might try the search button toward the top and see what comes up. Good luck- I know they look terrible if you leave them like they are.

When we first adopted Finnegan (our white boy) he had bad tear stains so I used a stain remover from the pet store to clean them up but I also found once I switched him to a better diet "Wellness" they went away and any fluids from his eyes were now clear. About a year later I tried a different food and the stains started to come back so we went right back to Wellness again and we have not had any tear stains since.

So you might want to try a different food it might help.
