I'd give her the sqeaky toy as reward--it seems like that might be what she wants.

I actually alternate throwing the ball and squeeky toy - so she does get the squeeky toy after she returns the ball. Little bit of work and play mixed together makes it more enjoyable for her.

When teaching my two to retrieve, I just traded the object for a treat. They eat the treat, and then are ready to retrieve again.

This has been some good advice...I'm going to have to try it on my 7month old. He has no problem bringing things back and wants you to take them...just doesn't want to actually let go.
