Little Zoey has had her tail too long at this point. I would let it be as is....she is used to it by now. That would be a major surgery for her now. You know, boxers are adorable with or without tails!!!!

Also, please remember how important a tail is for communicating with other dogs. Tail position shows feelings of fear, dominance, submission, friendliness....without the tail it's hard for other dogs to 'read' how the docked animal is feeling and respond accordingly.

My docked dog has no problem communicating with his nub. ;)

Good call, enjoy Zoey's tail, and the fact that at that age their tails make them look like little radio control puppies ...too cute ..LOL

Years ago I had a cocker spaniel that did not have his tail docked and we decided to do it after 6 months of age. I felt horrible after doing it and had to put my dog on valium for several days to help him deal with the loss of his tail. The doctor did not mention anything to me about how this was going to affect his state of mind. I was 19 years old and didn't know enough to ask the right questions. I wished I would have known before and I would have chosen not to do it.

You are doing the right thing by asking the questions. It really is the loss of a limb and it will affect him.

Boxers are all beautiful dogs with or without their long tails.

Cassie has her tail and we love it, the ammount of people that stop and say 'o look a boxer with a tail how gorgeous is that'

And yes so much character can be noticed, it great to see her wagging it.... lol
