Tail dock sizes

well my baby boy, Atticus is gonna be 4 months old opn the 30th and ...i was looking thru other pictures of boxers and i saw most had almost....non visible tail...? atticus is about 17 inches high and his tail is 3 inches.. odd? im not sure ...anyway i have read that the size dock is that show but im not so sure anymore ...im worried :-( ......alot of people said the 6cm dock is the size it should be....HELP!

From what I've read on this site I think that between 1" and 3" is what it is supposed to be...
Not positive though...

Three inches is just fine. Those standards that do specify a length (Canadian, Australian, New Zealand - maybe some others) state that the length should not exceed two inches. So don't be worrying about three

I'm sorry, but i had to laugh. YOu see Clover has a tail that is right around 4 to 4 1/2 inches long. It's my little handle - and I think it's just too cute. The way she holds it up, or holds it down. When we play with her to really "get her" we just quickly grab her tail lightly then let go - it all happens so fast and she just gives you a look like "hey that's mine, whatcha' doing?!"

My two Boxers have very different tail lengths - Max has one that's just less than two inches long, and Mo's is just over 3 inches.
I have recently been to a dog show watching the Boxer judging, and most of those dog's tails were around 3 inches long. They were much longer than Max's, and perhaps a little longer than Mocha's, even. I was surprised, but everyone seems to think that was perfectly normal.
Personally, I don't think it matters! Just as long as it's docked somewhat so it doesn't whip you when they're doing their kidney beaning!!!

Well my little man's tail is 4 inches long!! Everyone always comments on how long it is and ask why, but i dont have a clue it was done when i met him at 8 weeks.

To me it really doesnt matter because i dont intend to show him!

I'm not sure how long mya's is, as I am at work, but I know hers is much longer than our friends boxer. They both came from the same breeder. just depends where they docked it at. Scooby's is a tiny little nub and Mya's is like a handle to grab onto! Too cute!

I have been wondering about this issue as well. When we got Annie she was 7 months old and had a longer tail, probably about 4 to 4 1/2 inches long. I thought it looked kind of funny, but in no way took away from her good looks. Nice to know she isn't alone.
