Okay i just recently had my boxers tail amputated since technically it isnt docking anymore since she was 9 weeks. I had this done for medical reasons i might get bashed on here but anyone with this experience of getting this procedure done can you tell me how they recovered if the tail scabbed up or anything. I am worried because it seems to be oozing clear liquid is that normal? and i have had to bring her to the vet twice already in less than two weeks because of problems such as them not giving me a cone for her head and cause of that she ate her stitches at night. if they can't get this fixed by tomorrow morning when i bring her in i will be changing vets because im very displeased with them. Just really need some insight. i love my dog very much and am willing to do anything for her tail to heal properly and be in the best of health.

How did she damage her tail so badly at nine weeks that it needed amputation could it not have been saved ?
If you are not happy with the vet you are using than don't go back, IMO you did not get adequate care or advise .
I am not medically trained but I do imagine that clear discharge would not be too serious an issue however if it were yellow or green I would imagine it would be infected, you have to be very very careful with you pup now as an amputation IS a major procedure and get the best advise possible.

I had to get an amputation on my 2 yr old. It is not an easy surgery to recover from - for you or the pup. Buster was in and out of the vets & ER so many times during his recovery, twice being another surgery to remove more vertebrae.
Definitely change vets if you are displeased. Definitely get it re-checked and make sure it's healing properly.

I would take her to the vet. My boxer had his tail docked by whoever we bought him from. But he would never sit in obedience class. The bone was still exposed so we had to have it redone so it would be comfortable for him. Nothing ever oozed from it. I would take your dog in.,
