If the swelling doesn't go down in a couple of day, I would go the vet and have it checked out.

Did you ever find out what that was?

I was just wondering if you ever found out what that was. My six-month old male puppy (neutered 2 weeks ago) has a nipple that is now the size of a human nipple. I am planning on rushing him to the vet tomorrow, but I just wanted to know what sort of thing I might expect to hear. The nipple is pink, somewhat crusty, with no visible bleeding or pussing. It's not hard, like my previous dog's tumors were, so it doesn't sound like the cancer that I read about on other threads. I'm hoping that another dog at the dog park just nicked him, and that antibiotics will make it go away. Still, if you found out what your's was, I'd really like to know. Thank you!

In case anyone else has this issue- our doctor says that it's "an abrasion gone haywire", most likely from rolling around on concrete or other hard surfaces. We're having to put some Cortisone cream on him twice a day, and that should make it go down; failing that, if it gets too big, they may have to remove it.
