Hey Guys, we have had Ozu with us for around 6 weeks, he is around 4 months old now. We have been feeding him Eukanbua but after reading around have decided to move him onto TOTW Pacific Stream. His coat has also lost it's sheen it first had when we brought him from the breeders.

We have been feeding him a cup, 3 times a day but he is the least bit interested in eating, we have mixed a bit of jelly meat with his kibble which resulted in a slight increase in consumption but he still won't eat all of it.

Any advice would be great. We are also considering raw but not sure.

How much is he eating? You may very well be giving too much. Keep in mind feeding guidelines are just a starting point, and I will say every dog I've had and every food I've fed, if I fed what was on the guidelines they would have been obese. My boy is 67 pounds and eats 2 1/4 cups of TOTW per day and my other boy is 70 pounds and eats 2 1/2 cups per day, both are extremely active and do fine on these amounts. So you may just be feeding too much.

If your pup is eating, then I would simply cut back on the amount of food. Also, switching foods can take some time for them to acclimate. Going from Eukanuba to TOTW is like going from McDonald's to steak, rice, and veggies...obviously doesn't taste as good but is much better for you. A healthy dog will not voluntarily starve itself, so give him some time to get used to the change (2-3 months). If you go 2-3 months and aren't seeing a change then you may want to try another food or another flavor. But again, it may be a simple case of overfeeding and if you cut back on the portion size or switch to only 2 meals a day instead of 3 he may do better.

Good luck!

At that age, well still actually, my girl was eating 3 cups a day of the Pacific Stream but she is extremely active as in doesn't stop moving....hence burns through a ton of calories. At a year of age we switched to another version of TOTW for a higher protien content but still feeding 3 cups a day.
You might be seeing that your pup is starting to lose the super silky puppy coat. It should still stay nice and soft but their adult coat isn't as soft naturally as that perfectly soft puppy one is!
You can try adding a bit of warm water to the kibble. Softens it up just slightly (don't let it sit too long and get smooshy). This helps bring out the flavor a bit and can entice a pup to eat more happily. Adding various things in a attempt to get them to eat can quickly turn them into a picky eater.

Thanks for the response people, Ozu will eat around 3/4th of a cup in the morning, less than half in the afternoon and around 1/4th at night. His coat is still soft but it's sheen is slowly going away. We are still moving him off his old kibble probably got around 4 days left to completely move him over to TOTW. He is def very healthy, he plays the whole day and is drinking his water. I guess it really isn't an issue then. We just would like to see him a little less skinny. :)

Thanks again!!!

Skinny is very common for Boxer puppies. If you do a search on here there are TONS of threads on this.
