Hi all-

I switched Riley from CS to Fromm's Duck and Sweet Potato starting about 3 weeks ago, she's been completing off the CS for about a week and a half. She loves the Fromm's and eats it right up! At first, I was thrilled because her poos were a lot smaller and firmer than on the CS. But over the last few days they have become loose again. Has anyone else experienced this? Nothing else has changed in her diet. She's been eating and drinking just fine and playing like she normally does. I know this sounds weird, but could it be the lack of exercise for the last few days due to the rain?

Since she went through the switching process and has been 100% on the Fromms for more than a week without issue, it's reasonable to think that there's something else causing/contributing to her loose stool. Possibly the lack of exercise (easy to test that theory though - go out and play in the rain ;)). What about treats?

Her treats have been pretty much the same...I have been giving her cream cheese in her kong lately because I wanted to see if she had been allergic to peanut butter. I started the cream cheese at the same time as the Fromm's tho...I was thinking about it and she started having looser stools on Saturday when I picked her up from the kennel where she had stayed for 1 night. Could she have picked up a tummy bug there?

Well, it's always possible that she's picked up a bit of a tummy bug.

I'd be inclined to think it might be the cream cheese though ;) Especially if she's getting it daily. Cottage cheese would be better, but it's always possible that your girl is slightly lactose-intolerant and dairy products may not be the greatest thing in the world for her. What about trying some bits of kibble in her kong instead, and sealing the ends with some canned dog food (frozen)? That would would be better for her than peanut butter or cream cheese on a daily basis, and in the short term will help you to figure out what's causing the loose stool.
