All the people who are owned by one or more Boxers, now is the time to find out if your boy or girl can swim! There is going to be a 'swim-a-thon' in Abbotsford plus a Santa photo day Sunday on Dec. 12th. There is a field behind the Center for an informal Boxer gathering also. If you want more details please let me know.

Can Boxers Swim?

I heard alot of owners say there babies can't swim is that a boxer thing? my babie will go to her neck then turn around...she says know swimming for me, she's pretty young yet, maybe she'll change her mind next summer

It all depends on the Boxer, our Sergeant didn't like the water at all but Isabelle is a proper little water baby, she loves the water. We have never tried her in the river though, she loves the hose and gets really soaked.
Some Boxers love to swim, they seem to have worked out how to compensate for their large chest, (which I believe is the problem). They will have life jackets for your pet if they can't swim very good.
We are going to take her and see what happens, if she doesn't want to try and swim we will have had a visit with other friends and their Boxers, we are also going to have her photo taken with Santa while there.

Ping loves to swim.. we started taking him to the lake when he was young to get him used to the feel of it.. once we knew he was strong enough to swim we took him out and just started working with him getting used to swimming on his own and keeping himself up... he was a little nervous at first but then started to enjoy it and now he loves to jump into ponds and lakes and swim .. especially if there are ducks, he likes to chase them LOL
