Beau IS having surgery today

Beau is scheduled to have surgery at 10:00 this morning, which is about right now. He is back down to 47 lbs which is not good. I am so worried about him. The original vet saw him this morning and said he thinks the blockage is still there and acting like a ball valve (?) in his stomach and letting stuff through sometimes and not other times. So they are going to do an exploratory surgery to find out what is causing the problem and where it is exactly and go from there. They are going to go ahead and chip him while he's under because that hadn't been done yet as he was already fixed when we got him and didn't want to put him under just for that procedure.

I will update when I get news from the vet. I will be pacing the floor until I hear something :(

out of surgery

Well, no blockage. No stool in his bowel.

His bowel was red and swollen, so maybe irritable bowel. He also had a valve on his stomach that may have been clamping down too tightly at times.

Vet said no masses or cysts or anything like that.

He is keeping him until at least Monday. He is trying him on some meds and new food and will call me tomorrow. Beau was up and looking at the vet when he called me, said he did fine.

I miss my baby :(

I just caught this post, and want to send Beau lots of love and healing vibes.. poor baby.. but what good news that he's now on the mend.
Millie is always eating stuff she shouldn't too..yesterday she was coughing and vomiting, luckily she threw up the offending object, an elastic band, I dread to think the damage that would have done....
Anyway I will be keeping Beau in my thoughts, and I'm sending you lots of hugs and kisses, because I know how much you are missing him right now.

Great to hear nothing too bad going on....IBD and the valve thing can be readily treated with very positive results. Lets hope your roller coaster ride ends soon and life soon returns to normal for Beau and your family.

Prayers For Beau And Angela

Angela, I am SO sorry for what you are going through with Beau. We went through a brain tumor and euthynasia gone WAY wrong with Johnny and it was so painful for John and I, I imagined it felt similar to having our stomachs cut open with a knife. I am sure you are feeling overwhelmed, but it sounds like Beau still has a really good prognosis. Our dogs, like our children, take emotional cues from us. I know its difficult, but try to stay peaceful and put your faith in your higher power to create the "right outcome" for Beau, whatever that may be. Its so hard, but it really creates the best possible energy in your and Beau's environment. We will keep our prayers with you and Beau! T.J.

Beau is home

Beau is home! He looks like a walking skeleton and he's very sorry for himself, but he's home! They didn't have to put an e collar on him because he isn't bothering his incision. We have to go back in two weeks two get his sutures removed. They think he has a spastic stomach valve along with food allergies.

I am so happy to have my baby home! DH is upstairs on a quilt and a doggie pillow in our room with Beau. He looks so fragile :( I would be afraid to weigh him right now. I think he lost even more weight.
