Thanks for your enthusiasm Marcus but he hasn't passed the object yet! Poor baby was straining and straining but nothing came out. :( He did eat a little food this morning. We are having a hard time keeping him from eating grass, I guess his tummy still isn't all the way better. As long as he doesn't start vomiting,he can stay home. If he starts, back to the hospital he goes.

I hope he passes this object soon. My friend told me that Barium will harden after time, so that would be bad if it was inside his lower intestine and decided to harden.

Thanks for all your support everyone! We are almost through this!

OOOO-straining is not good and eating the grass means he wants to vomit. You may want to take him back to the vet.If the object is close enough, they can "retrieve" it without surgery. Thanx for the updates..paws still crossed for you guys.

I have not been on here for a few days and just read this post. I hope everything goes ok for Beau. Sending lots of good pooping vibes his way.

Why are you wanting to stop him eating grass? I was always told that it was something they needed to do when they felt off sorts. I let Lola when she's off colour.

We are keeping our fingers, toes, and paws crossed that Beau will pass the "object" on his own. If he does not pass it by today I would take him back to the hospital. The longer that foreign body is in there the more problems it can cause.

BTW, you asked how long Chance had to stay in the hospital after his surgery for a foreign body. I actually brought him home that day ONLY because I work there. I brought him home with his IV in and had him on fluids overnight at home. Normally for those types of surgery they stay overnight and go home the next day unless the surgery was more than your typical foreign body removal.

Good Luck and please keep us updated.

Beau update

Well, he is peeing and going a little poo every now and then. But he has not passed the "object" yet. We are calling the vet tomorrow to see what they want to do next.

Lola's mum: On a different thread, someone said that eating grass induces vomiting. We don't really want him to vomit right now as it means he gets rushed back to the vet - which is fine, but I hate to do that just for grass vomit.

Thanks everyone for your posts! It gives me something to look forward to during this whole mess. You guys mean a lot to me!

update - Back to the hospital we go...

We are leaving momentarily to take him back to the hospital. He hasn't passed it. We were going to take him anyway, but he just now vomited his breakfast so that tells me there is something blocking again, not just something waiting to pass. Please (again) send positive vibes for my beautiful boy. Will update tonight when we get home.
