I'm also sorry to hear about Beau, having a sick furbaby is such a worry. I know because when Ellie was about three months old they thought she had a blockage because she was throwing up and had diarrhea to the point where she became dehydrated and they had to hospitalize her. We never did find out what the problem was.
I'm sure everything will go fine and we're sending healing thoughts your way!

They may want to keep him overnight to monitor him but he should go home the next day unless there are any sort of complications or infection maybe. Best of luck and keep us posted. **you could try rice/beef instead of chicken---might be more accepting of that, just use lean ground beef. :)

I had a dog once that needed to have an obstruction removed and it was in the intestines. He did really well after the surgery. He was kept there for the day of the surgery and overnight and then came home the next evening. He did remarkably well, was up and doing his usual stuff within 24 hours of coming home. Dogs are really good at bouncing back. Good Luck to Beau and I hope that everything comes out okay and I am sending {{{{{{{comforting}}}}}}} vibes to you so that you will be able to rest tonight. Sending (((((((healing))))))) vibes to Beau.

Blockage Don't Worry

My girl Tyson had to have a blockage removed about a year ago. She chewed up our bath mat and some of it got stuck and had to be removed. She typically doesn't chew on things at least she doesn't any more. They had to shave her belly and sides. I think the worst thing about the surgery was that a few days late a sack of blood pooled up near where they cut her open. This happened on the weekend and of course freaked us out since blood started to seap through her stiches. I talked to the doctor and he said it was normal and not to worry. I made her a nest our of pillows and blankets and laid on the floor with her all weekend. We took her into the vet the next monday and they drained the sack of blood.

It took her a few weeks but she was back to her old self pretty quickly.

thank you all

It makes me feel better to read your comforting posts. I don't think I slept much all night. I think his surgery will be early this morning, when I hear something I will post and let you all know how it went.

Again, thank you all so much,
Angela

Oh my heart goes out to you. I hope things go well. You will be in our thoughts.
I saw on the animal channel a furbaby that had swallowed a stick. They got it out and saved him....
Keep us posted....

If the blockage is in the stomach and not the intestine then the surgery should be fairly uneventful. If the blockage is in the intestine, then the vet may have to search for and remove any damaged portion. The vet stay will be determined on how Beau is responding to everything......I'm sure he'll do just fine. Write down any question that pops into your mind so you can go over them with your vet. Positive vibes headed your way!
