Hi - this will be my wonderful Mooney's first summer and he is a solid white boxer, who will be spending plenty of time outdoors boating and playing. I know that we will need to have shady areas available to him but I have also been told that there is sunscreen for dogs. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with these products that could recommend a brand that they trust. Thanks

No experience but I think I would use a baby sunscreen for him as that is for very sensitive skin.:)

We got crazy dog doggie tone on clearance at a petsmart. We haven't tried it yet, but it's SPF15 and made just for dogs. This is the only one I've ever seen.

I just use baby sunscreen on Piper. It's 30+ and she's happy to let me put it on her. I have found that she doesn't like sitting in the sun like Jasper does, so fortunately her habits suit her colouring.

Just thought I would mention if Mooney does have an allergic reaction to sunscreen try one with no "chemical absorbers".

From having to put sunscreen on horses with pink noses, we usually used like an SPF 15 to 30. It seemed to work well. So I would think you would be able to use that on a white boxer as well, but use a small amount at first in case there's a possible allergic reaction.

I'm going to have to start putting sunscreen on my white pup as well.

I plan to use the same sunscreen on my white boxer baby, Vanilla Bean, that I use on myself. I use Coppertone Water Babies SPF 45 since I am quite pale and tend to burn easily. :( Even out here in rainy Washington we do get some sunny summer days. -Heather

We use the same sunscreen that we use on Dalton. We put it on their noses and thier ears.
