My Petey is now 14 weeks old and we are trying to spend more time outdoors. I Understand White Boxers can sunburn easily. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to prevent or help with this? Is there a sunscreen that is safe for boxers? I know to try to keep in in the shade but that does not always work, and you can still burn through shade. Please let me know any suggestions that would be great!!!!

My maggie is 8 months and I have a 1 year old Brindle.
I have asked this before and talked with people about this. I know that there is sunscreen made for dogs but it is really expensive and just as good as Water Babies which you can buy anywhere and it is gentle for their sensitive skin. i used it last summer on Moser's nose it would get pretty pink.
I put it on Maggie yesterday. I worry about her head and top of her ears mainly.
You will start noticing yours getting spots-on their skin. we call them freckles. i love the white boxers. never thought i would have one but once you see them you cant say no.

good luck

Your Petey looks like my dog! My mail man calls her Petey too. I use an SPF 15 waterproof sport sensitive skin in spray form. Lotion is messy! Be prepared to distract Petey with something yummy that will keep his attention for a bit after you apply the sunscreen. It will keep him from licking it off till he forgets what you just did to him.

OMG! I have a white boxer named Petey that looks identical to him! And yes, we have horrible problems keeping sunscreen on him...but if you don't the poor baby will cook. I want to add another area to cover....make certain you get his privates---as odd as it may seem until you neuter him his scrotum may burn horribly because of the lack of hair. LOL I had no "delicate" way of putting it!

I always hear about the sunburn but my white boy, Capone has never had a problem with it. Even being outside for a prolonged time he has always done well. I guess it varys from dog to dog.
