Suggestions please

I need some suggestions from you nice people. I keep my 6 month old Lucy in a kennel all day. My wife and I work and don't get a chance to get home during the day to let her out. Consequently, when we get home, she is all wound up and all she wants to do is play all night long. It is getting difficult for me to get any sleep. I love playing with her when I get home, but after a while, she is getting to be too much. I wanted to find a way to leave her out of her kennel during the day and let her sleep in it at night, since that is the time when we have the most "accidents" around the house. What area of the house would be good to leave her in that she wouldn't get into a lot of stuff? I'm new to the puppy arena and I love her to death. Thanks a lot.

You might look at buying a Baby gate or something like it. I gate Ronin in the kitchen if I'm going to be gone during the day. He is crate trained and he will usually be in his crate sleeping when I get home ( regardless of the fact that he has that "extra" space )

Try gating her into the kitchen. I would suggest a gate that is not easily climbable! My Jack can climb his way out of anything. I would also try going for a long walk or if you have a backyard some heavy playing right after you get home to try to wear her out. Maybe consider a little brother or sister for your baby! That works well!

The kitchen is a good idea with a gate.. but if you want a smaller area try the bathroom and make sure everything is put up..and the doors to your cabinets are locked so she/he can not open them... we did this when Brandy was very young and I felt bad about putting her in the crate it took her awhile to get use to the crate and now that is where she goes..but then again I do not have the issue of having to leave the dogs alone for very long. Yes, I agree with getting baby gate to keep him contained in the kitchen. That way, if there is an accident, it isn't on the carpet all day. Make sure all the food is off your counters though! We found out the hard way that we have a "counter surfer"....even though we had it pushed all the way back, he still managed to get to it. Stinker. Also make sure to give him a little "bed" of pillows and/or blankets so he has somewhere comfy to lay and sleep. Do you have time to take him for a walk in the morning before you go to work? That can tire him out a little, even if it's just a short walk, he'll still enjoy it.

I don't recommend a second one

getting a baby brother or sister for your pup would just double the issues-or more.Pretty sure that was just meant tongue in cheek.
You could look into a pet walker, hire a nighborhood teen or stay at home parent to give walk once or twice while you are gone.When we walk Shilo on the gentle leader, it's like taking a feather for a walk.
And I hate to say it, but some just never tire out. Shilo is going to be 7 years old soon, and only recently have we ever had the pleasure of seeing her sleep.Little cat naps was just her way.No matter how much we wore her out.On the bright side, it gave us plenty of time to work on training her!
