Poor Maxx. I am glad to hear he was playing last night. We had a similar situation with Porter and his crate. He would also slam his body against the crate violently. So, we started to gate him in the kitchen and have never had a problem since. He actually started doing much better going potty outside too. It was like he had his own little room at night and the crying stopped too. Port was about 11 weeks when we took him out of the crate. He is almost 4 months now and still as happy as can be in HIS kitchen.

Aww....poor guy
I know how you feel. Capone escpaped from his crate once and I came home to blood smeared all over the wall. He cut up his face pretty badly trying to get out and must have been using the wall for leverage. Poor little dude's eye was swollen shut...he looked like he had been in a fight. He continued to have escaping problems, but I am happy to report that he now has free roam all day and does fairly well most of the time. Give your little guy a hug from me and Capone.

My heart goes out to you and Maxx...that must of been an awful experience for him and I'm just about in tears thinking about it! I'd be very leary too of putting him back into his crate, even though it is for his own good.

*Update* Maxx had a good night last night. He was playing and being his usual self. We went to the vet this morning, and he checked out fine. I was very scared of putting him back in the crate yesterday, so I left him in our puppy proof bedroom last night while we ran out for a bit. We left the crate open just in case he wanted to go in, and gave him all his toys to play with. He chose to lay on his new bed like a good boy, and the only thing he got into that he shouldn't have was our blinds...Mr Destructo chewed on the CUSTOM blind on our big window, but it's a small price to pay to keep him safe. Blinds are replaceable, but Maxx is not. During the night I was afraid he'd potty on the floor, so every time he moved I woke up to make sure he was being good. Sure enough he slept through the entire night (that's a new one..he usually wakes up at least once a night) and slept very peacefully. Only time will tell how well he will do staying out of "trouble" without his crate.
That is good news, except for your custom blinds.

So Happy Maxx is back to his boxer self.

I just read this post and am crying all over my desk. I'm preggers and very emotional right now - but always especially emotional when it comes to my furbabies. I'm so glad everything is okay - that poor widdle baby. Just love on him extra hard!!! And give him some love from all of my bunch!!!
