Bella is potty trained and is pretty good about letting us know when she has to go out. We bell trained her since she was a puppy. We have the biggest problems with accidents in the house when it is cold and/or rainy out. She will go in the house RIGHT AFTER we bring her inside. Sometimes I think it is out of spite. It is definitely her way of trying to take control.

Today, she actually knocked off one of the bells because we didn't get up fast enough for her. She broke the chain that is was hanging on. Needless to say, I got the picture.

Tough times

We've been having a hard time with house training as well. I read somewhere that you should be able to house train your puppy in two weeks - ha! I'd like to have the person who wrote that come to my house and try that for me.
Seriously though, we started giving Jersey a treat everytime she went outside and went potty. That encouraged her greatly. I read on the board here about the bell idea and thought I'd give it a go as she didn't seem to know that she had to tell us when she had to go.
Previously we just had to watch really carefully. We started the bell training three days ago. I ask her if it's time to go outside and if she comes to the door then I get her to sniff the bell. Her nose makes it ring a bit, then I let her outside for potty.

Today, I was in the living room and suddenly I hear the bell! I almost fell over with joy! My little girl used the bell to ask to go out! Yesterday was her first day with no accidents in the house and today the bell. Things are definately looking up! I'm so proud of her fiestaicon, and thanks to all the people who suggested the bell, it's been the greatest idea we've used yet!

Ditto here

Same thing is happeing to my 8 months old Kaiser. He's marking every corner. He was very tidy before. I am considering crating although I hate it.

Good luck,

Pierre

Gosh do I know how you feel

My baby girl is 11 and 1/2 months and STILL not potty trained. She is the hardest dog Ive trained EVER!!!! Ive tried everything. What makes things even harder is that she WILL NEVER let me know when she has to go out. She will just go anywhere, even if its in the same room as us. I correct her every time. I praise her so much when I take her out, I just dont get it. She goes every time I take her out. But she will go like every hour. I never seen a dog go that much before. I crate her when Im not there and I tried to lock her up every time I cannot watch her but she barks non stop. I ignore her but she still dont stop. Im so frustrated with her. Other than the potty issue, shes the perfect companion.

I'm having a time with Lily, who is 1 yr. I haven't crated her, but I've had to put her in the laundry room at night, because that is her problem time. She may try to wake me, but I'm such a sound sleeper, it would never happen. Tomorrow I will have a bell on my door.

I've been reading many of the posts concerning different solutions to Boxer problems. I am just learning to understand my little girl and I'm thankful for all your imput!

Thanks!
