Stubborn Boxer HELP!!!!!!!!

OK, I have a 7 month old female boxer and she knows that we have had problems learning to potty train. She has gotten better about it thought, she will go to the door if she has to go out, BUT....

If I am doing something that is not giving her my attention or I tell her not to do something, then she will potty in the floor and just look at me like....hahahaha. I don't know how to handle her. I have never had a dog that had such an attitude.

I try to be patiant and understand, BUt I can't just sit with her all night when I need to do dishes, cook, house chores. How do you make these dogs stop taking it out on my carpet?:confused: :confused: :confused:

With time she will learn to get your attention when nature calls. She will either whine or scratch at the door. My six month old pup sits by the door patiently hoping someone will notice him whereas, Tyra, my adult female taps on your shoulder with her grubby paw to let you know she has to go. This weekend we are installing a doggie door so that they can go out as needed. I still want Elmo to clue us because sometimes I will have the doggie door locked for mud control purposes.

Be patient. Just when you think you can't take it anymore they miraculously improve.

You can also try the bell training method. Just tie a bell to the door and when she has to go outside, take her paw and hit the bell. Soon, she'll start recognizing bell with outside and that's what she'll start doing to tell you it's potty time.

I had the same problem with Abby. She is the most stuborn dog I have ever seen!! She would look right at us when she would pee in the house! It took just a few days to learn to ring the bell, after that, she improved so much. Although the first week was crazy because all she did was ring the bell, she thought it was pretty neat. Try it, hopefully it work for you and good luck!

My Kota is also 7 months old. She also was very stubborn to begin with. I understand how frusterated you must be. But there IS light at the end of the tunnel!!

Kota is potty trained now. She has only had one accident in the last month. Kota is crate trained (the best thing I ever did). In the begining we would put her in her crate if we were not able to pay absolute attention to her. When we made dinner, went to the store, watched a movie, cleaned the house..you get the picture- she would be in her crate. Then everytime she came out of her crate we would put her outside. When she went to the bathroom, she was let back in the house (she always wants in the house cause thats where we are). Gradually she got to the point where we would let her out of her crate when we were making dinner- just to see how she would do. Then when we were watching TV, and eventually it got to the point where she could always be with us- well unless we leave the house... in that case she is still in her crate.

Now when she needs to go out side she will run full speed ahead to the back door and slam against the blinds - don't ask me why but that is her way of getting our attention to the back door. But it works, and that is all that matters.

It takes lots of patience, so just give her time to adjust. She'll get the hang of it.

I agree with your dont ask me why thing, each dog thinks it's own way. For some reason your vivid description just made me laugh, I could picture your boxer doing this. :D

Sorry Lar - I had to laugh too! Tenaia spins around in circles and growls in the middle of the dining room floor to go out (the sliding glass door opens off the dining room). She's 3 now, and I still laugh like crazy when I am laying in bed (knowing exactly why she is staring at me from the other end of the hall) and I say "what?" - she just starts spinning and growling!

She used to pee right in front of me when she was little, but wisened up pretty quick when she realized all that got her was a quick trip outside ALONE for a 10 minute time out.

You can laugh!! I laugh at it ALL the time.. Just sitting here thinking about her cracks me up:D All those funny little quirky things they do..... I cant wait to go home to be with her!! Is it 5:00 YET???

madie is having a hard time training too for a while she would wine to go out now she's back to going on the floor i can't put her in a crate because she gets stressed out . i tried but she lost weight so my vet told me she just cant handle it i do gate her off in the kitchen when i work . any idia's and also what does every one use to clean soiled carpet i use natures miricale does anything work better
