I am curious of the true definition of a brindle vs a reverse brindle???? My female just had 5 pups she is brindle with white and the male is fawn with black mask.

4 of the puppies will be fawn with white, some with white collars.......one will be brindle (I hope) it's really light rite now but you can see his markings darkening up day by day. His black markings start from his spine and run parallel to the ribs??? what type of brindle is he??

Past generations do not matter in the case of 2 fawns.
The 2 fawn dogs you say were bred were either mixed, or another male bred to the bitch that they were not aware of.

Well, I guess that means my bf`s male Boxer pedigree is no good then because both parents were full AKC Boxer (even though I know that doesn`t mean purebred) so she would have had to sneak another mating in there somewhere. I have pictures of the Mom and bf knows the stud dog personally and his owner (though I don`t have a photo of him). How disappointing to find out that a dog you have raised for 10 years isn`t really the parentage that it is suppose to be!

Same thing only different??? when is a nose too long?

Ok, I have 2 fawn females, they are purebred AKC Boxers, however, their noses seem long to me. Just poor genetics or any other ideas? I love them none the less, but Thumper's nose seems long. I will try and post a pic sometime soon so someone can give me their 2 cents. Jazz' is shorter or it could just be the white stripe up the nose of Thumper.

Reading through this post in its entirety, it seems there is an awful lot of back yard breeding going on. :(

A brindle Boxer that is heavily striped to the point that the dog looks black with fawn stripes is referred to as "reverse" brindle. It's really just a way to describe the amount of striping on a dog because "reverse" brindles are really just brindles. Much like the term "flashy" is used to describe the amount of white markings...

Brindle is just brindle...there isn't really different types. It sounds as if you have 1 brindle pup and I'd guess him to be a lighter brindle since at first you weren't sure if he was in fact brindle. Darker brindle pups look black or nearly black...

not to be the negative one...

I fully agree smashicon, and not just this post... people just don't understand the responsibility that comes with breeding. and i'm not just talking about taking care of the pups and finding them homes... i'm also talking about doing the proper health testing, and getting their dogs evaluated to see if they should even be used as breeding stock. There are far too many people breeding dogs that should not be bred.. which unfortunately eventually leads to the decline of our wonderful breed (and others too). I've seen such poorly bred "AKC registered, Champ. bloodlines" dogs that they might as well be mating mutts together. i just wish people would do much much more research before getting themselves nose-deep in anything. (purchasing an animal.. breeding an animal.. breeding more humans for that matter! ;) )

Unfortunately I am with Diane on this one.

Folks, just because some guy with a smile and story tells you his AKC fawn Boxers just produced a brindle does not mean he is telling you the truth. Either one of those dogs is a brindle and registered wrong with AKC or one of the parents was not the parent.

There are so many tricks BYB's play to try and cheat the system. Using the AKC # of a dog not related to the breeding in order to register a litter from 1 or 2 dogs NOT registered is just one of many tricks. Heck, too many times I get emails from people who bought a pup and were told it would be registered only to find out now there is a new story about lost AKC paperwork or OOPS! they never registered the sire and/or dam. Stories, smoke, mirrors and lies. Happens all the time unfortunately.
