I get is your rottweiler American or German? I just say she's an Oregon Rottweiler...The standard is the same, except those born in Germany have tails. People look puzzled at that one! :D

Okay, my third grader is doing a research paper on dog breeds.

Of course, she is including boxers. She read me her draft and she says, "there are 2 kinds of boxers." I stopped her and said, no, there is only one kind of boxer. Where did you get that information?

The website she is using, under Boxer says "Deutscher boxer" and "German boxer." What?! :confused: Of course the photo shown is a cropped boxer (AKC standard).

No wonder people are confused.

I have had people ask "what color is that called?" about my brindle boxer. I'd rather they asked than call it tiger striped. :rolleyes:

Linda, I think "Deutscher" does mean "German."

What kind of Boxer is it? Well, obviously, since it's not Mike Tyson, it's a Boxer DOG....duh...

Tell me how bad this is...James' boss has a fawn female that weights about 55-60 lbs. James was telling them how tall Sirus has gotten and how much he weights now and they were like, "Oh, well he'll be bigger because he's a German Boxer and Daisy is an American Boxer..." :eek:
Even some Boxer owners are gulible and mis-informed!!! Which is just sad...

So anyway...James got home that night and asked me how many different kinds of Boxers there are (He doesn't know much about dog breeds).
I said "One, why?" and he said..."Then how come so-and-so told me that Sirus is a German and Daisy is an American?" I then explained to him that the ONLY reason that Sirus is bigger than Daisy is because MAJORITY, male dogs are bigger than female dogs!!! And that the only difference in the breed is the color, but none the less it's the same breed!!!


That was the first time I'd ever heard anything like that!!!

I've gotten that from a lady that I work with. She always said she had an English Boxer??? I just never argued b/c it's just not worth it sometimes. Then when I got my Boom-man, she asked me what kind of boxer he was (kinda inevitable, I guess), so we got into this long discussion about how there is only ONE boxer. She still doesn't believe me. I finally saw a picture of her dog and she looks like a checked boxer to me. Maybe she's a mix, but she's never said she was, just an English boxer:rolleyes: Oh, well, I give up!
