not so strange I guess
I was surprised to see that my 4 month old puppy (Lucy) sitting on the face of my 2 year old (Rocky) is not unique. I couldn't believe it the first time I saw it. He justs lets her sit there. He is perfectly still until she walks away (or starts chewing on his face/ears/paws/tail/whatever) and he lets her do that too. It is the darnedest thing. Rocky is a male but watches over "his" puppy like a mother and puts up with all her funny business with great patience. I had hoped they would be good companions for each other but never dreamed that would enjoy each other sooooo much. They share everything. If I give them each a chew toy or some sort of treat they share one and then share the other. They insist on eating out of the same bowl. At the dog park if Lucy wanders off, I say Rocky where is your puppy and he goes to look for her. He will not allow her our of the yard at home. If she tries to go into the street, he blocks her with his body and uses his nose to herd her back where she belongs. I thought I was imagining it at first and then my neighbors started to notice it too. Don't get me wrong, this does not mean Rocky stays in the yard. He thinks the whole cul da sac is his domain. It doesn't help that all the neighbors encourage visits. Even the woman next door who was afraid of Rocky (based on his looks) has fallen in love since she got a Beagle puppy and Rocky is very gentle and sweet to her also. The neighbor cannot praise Rocky enough now. Yes ladies and gentlemen NO ONE can resist a boxer if you take time to get to know one.
