So our boxer pup is just over 4 months old now and since this past sunday he has had some strange changes in his behavior. Let me preface this by saying we feed him twice a day, early am and evening. Also at night he sleeps in his crate and has had a regular schedule for about 2 months now with no issues. Sunday and Tuesday morning he had no interest in eat and ate only a little bit in the morning well after normal feeding time. He did eat his evening meals though without any fuss. I noticed last evening that he was drinking a ton of water and kept wanting more every few hours.
Throughout the night he was restless in his cage. I walked him several times, and he did poo twice when I did. I figured that was what he needed and that he would be fine. Wrong.... he continued to whine and I would let him out to see if he wanted to eat or drink. He just wanted to drink and a lot. Around 4am this morning I took him out again, and fed him and he actually ate a whole bowl of food. He didn't eat it how he normally does, which is face first and tries to engulf everything at once. He was picky and took bites here and there, but he did eat it all in one sitting.
He seems very playful still, but just uncomfortable. I did notice that he had some red bit marks that are self inflicted (he is on flea meds from the vets) so they could be from scratching/biting at fleas I suppose. He just hasn't whined like that in his cage since he was around 8-10 weeks old which is why I noticed it as being odd behavior.
Any suggestions as to what I should do? Should I take him to the vets or wait it out for a few days and see if things change?
Thanks all for any tips in advance.
