Storm saved the house from burning down!

Well once again I can't believe how stupid I am and how wonderful my wee girl is! I have a cold and have been so busy that my brain switches off when I come home from work . Our house is set up that the kitchen is at one end and the lounge is at the other.

Last night I cooked dinner and went to the lounge to have it as normal. About 10 mins after I finished Storm started acting really strange and was barking at the lounge door. I thought she just wanted out so I let her out and shut the door behind her - thinking she was just being demanding (BF is away and she has been a bit grumpy). But then she really started up and was scratching at the lounge door to get back in. I must admit I thought "you little brat your trying to get me to feed you" - I went back into the hallway and smelt smoke! Storm ran towards the kitchen with me right behind her and I had left 3 elements on! One had a pan with oil in it and the handle was over another element. Everything was smoking, handle was melting and i'm sure it was only a minute away from catching fire. :eek:

If it hadn't been for Storm alerting me I wouldn't have gone back to the kitchen for a while! What a wonderful dog I have! I bet my landlord thinks the same when I tell him! She got extra treats & I had to let her sleep on the bed with me as a reward lovicon

PS: Although Storm did a great job we will have smoke alarms installed in the kitchen ASAP!
