We have a 9 month old boxer who seems to be small for his age.(?)He's only 40 pounds. We feed him the vet's recommended amount of food in two intervals a day. However, he seems to go #2 a lot more than he should. I would say 7 to 8 times a day. The stool sizes vary every time from large and solid to small and stringy.

He had a rough start to his life. When we brought him home, he had constant diarrhea and occasionally vomited. He stayed the night at the vet and we worried all night long that it may be Parvo. Vet said he was all clear.

Tonight he threw up some pink foam and I saw a speck of blood in it. His stools are still the same as before, but we are a bit worried. We are calling the vet tomorrow, but what are your opinions? He cannot hold himself for any more than four hours when crated. Please help!! We are going nuts!!

My 4 year old Carli is in the same boat - she has very frequent stools, almost 8 to 15 times per day, never solid. She is a whole 33 pounds - it's very difficult to put weight on her, and she's not super skinny - just small - looks around 4 months old, not four years old! She can't ever hold it in her crate, either. It's really just a mess. We've tried about everything. At this point, I'm considering BARF...I've heard wonderful things about it.

Hopefully my sympathy helps although I have no solution! Hang in there! I'll let you know how BARFing goes.

what kind of food is he on? I feed raw and it does wonders for the dog:) they love it. I use to have a girl her name was gracie and she had colitis and suffered alot. she would have 10-15 bowel movements a day and they were never hard. I changed her to barf. (bones and raw food) it worked great. it is not for everyone and you need to do what is best for you and your dog. but there is a thread on barf if you want to look good luck :)
